Dubbed "the love child of Jane Austen and Wendy Wasserstein" and labeled an editor's pick by Theatre Bay Area magazine, Pleiades follows a septet of siblings in their teens and early 20s as they face the second wave of the feminist movement in 1971. These wildly diverse women come together on an eventful Fourth of July weekend in the Hamptons, where they jostle over their place in the family and find themselves intrigued by both a politically active feminist and a hunky Vietnam vet. Award-winning local playwright Marissa Skudlarek's world premiere was inspired by the Greek myth of the daughters of Atlas, who were turned into stars and chased across the sky by Orion. Learn More
The weather was a little cool outside.. I wore dressed in layers, as always. I'm usually cold when I sit in an audience, but I was fine here. Apparently other members of the audience were warm as they were fanning themselves, which I found distracting. Also the chairs are very creaky and when people would shift in their seats, it made noise which was also distracting..The Weir dress • Nov 11 2013 star this tip starred

Not worth the trip downtown. Most of the one acts were dull, witless and irritating. The acting was spotty and the actors seemed uncomfortable with the material. I did like the Gertrude Stein play the best. A bright light in a rather dull evening.
