Upside: Al is amazing. The crowd was the greatest mix of young, old, black, white and every single person was caught up in the magic. I was very amused that kids (whom I didn't think would even know who Al Green is) were constantly having to be told to go back to their seats. The crowd was mesmerized. A very memorable show!

Downside: There show started very late and then there was a huge gap between the opening act and the main performance. (Of course, as soon as he was on stage, all was forgiven.) The venue itself offers no bad seats, but the rake of the auditorium is such that your view is totally blocked if you have a large couple (with hat) in front of you. We opted to sit across the aisle in seats that were not sold. Parking is outrageous.

I sat in the balcony in the center so I had a great view of Al Green and the whole band. They had a bar on the upper level, which was less crowded prior to the show because a lot of people didn't know about it. We were allowed to bring our drinks into the show. He had a comedian as an open act, which was nice. He was actually pretty funny and he set the tone. The intermission between the comedian and Al Green was a bit long, but it was well worth the wait once he entered on the stage. I chose to take BART and was downtown early for an early dinner and took my time walking up Taylor St. The masonic has a parking garage for convenience..a bit pricey, but that's SF. I just prefer to do public transportation when I'm downtown. I had a great evening and I would pay to see Al Green again and again...
