This was a lack luster dull performance. I lost interest almost entirely during the first piece and without the live music for the second, I would have slept through that as well. Someone should shake things up! This is second rate dance from a first rate set of dancers.Written on Nov 03 2009

Seeing LINES is always a treat and this program was no exception. Gorgeous athletic dancers, robust imaginitive choreography, and absolutely incredible live Moroccan music for the second piece. A Bay Area treasure, not to be missed!Written on Nov 02 2009

Description
The program features a world premiere with original music by visionary jazz pianist Jason Moran. Moran has performed alongside some of today's jazz greats including Ravi Coltrane and Cassandra Wilson and has been commissioned for numerous projects including Jazz at Lincoln Center. Having had what he calls a "breakthrough experience" while watching the Company, Moran pairs his technical virtuosity with a cutting-edge approach to jazz in creation of his first ballet score.
This season also features the return of the MOROCCAN Project. The vibrant drumming of Gnawa ceremonies sets a backdrop for the haunting strains of oud and violin performed live at all performances by El Hamideen. Amid shifting rhythms and echoing voices, the extraordinary dancers of Alonzo King LINES Ballet move with unexpected intimacy and flawless grace.
October 28 features a post-perfomance talk with Alonzo King.
October 31 ticketholders will receive an Alonzo King LINES Ballet 2010 calendar. Limited to 350 copies; first come, first serve.
