The New Conservatory Theatre Center presents the San Francisco premiere of The Story of My Life, a funny and deeply moving musical about lifelong best friends Alvin and Thomas. As time tests the bonds of their relationship, best-selling author Thomas calls on the only resource he has -- his own stories of Alvin -- to figure out where things went wrong. Nominated for four 2009 Drama Desk awards, including Outstanding Musical, The Story of My Life pays tribute to the power of friendship, the personal cost of success, and the choices we make at the turning points of our lives. Wonderful lyracist and pianist. His songs are stories of his life put to great melodies. Strength and truth just flows. His ""Friendly Fire" is just a masterpiece. Monday was particularly fun with the guest performers as well. He is right: NCT is a jewel! Thanks for a great theatrical evening!Written on Aug 18 2009

Description
The New York Times recently wrote that “one must marvel at the romantic sweep of Steve Schalchlin’s songs, emotions catching your throat when you hear them.” From the back roads of East Texas to the bright lights of Broadway, Steve Schalchlin takes us on a musical tour of his life and the extraordinary people he’s met along the way. Sitting tall at the piano, you’ll hear his pop, rock, folk, blues and gospel story-songs about being a recovering Baptist, Internet pioneer, Off-Broadway composer of two hit shows and finally being invited by George Michael to play his hero John Lennon’s Imagine piano.
