One of today's rising comedy stars, Barry Rothbart recently made his debut on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, where he killed it with his easy, natural disposition and quirky personal stories about everything from the bizarre things he's seen around L.A. to his vision of what he'll be like as an old man. He can be seen on TV in national commercials for Taco Bell, Honda and Miller Light, and in TNT's Men of a Certain Age and the 2012 season of MTV's Punk'd. Rothbart was named a "Best of the Fest" performer at the 2011 Montreal Just For Laughs Festival, and has been seen on TBS's Conan. Written on Aug 10 2012Great stuff! Six scheduled comedians plus a terrific drop-in. Some stars brighter than others (and how could that not be the case with that many names on the list?), but the signal-to-noise ratio was pretty darn good as we geeks would say, and headliner Tony Dijamco was fantastically funny. Across the geekiness spectrum of my friends in attendance—fine, so it's not THAT wide a spectrum—we agree that, next time this show is in town, "We'll be back."
