Novelist and screenwriter Barry Gifford visits the Jewish Community Center to read from his latest work. The Imagination of the Heart serves as the final novel in a "neo-noir" series that started with Wild at Heart, which was adapted by David Lynch into a film starring Nicolas Cage. Gifford also co-wrote the screenplay to Lynch's Lost Highway.

As a writer and filmmaker, Gifford exposes the underbelly of the American dream. His novels Wild at Heart and Perdita Durango became films starring Nick Cage and Rosie Perez. He co-wrote the films Lost Highway with David Lynch and City of Ghosts with Matt Dillon. His latest novel, The Imagination of the Heart, ends the saga of Wild At Heart's Sailor and Lula, the "Romeo and Juliet of the Deep South."
