With conductor Juraj Valcuha behind the baton, the San Francisco Orchestra welcomes acclaimed American pianist Garrick Ohlsson to the stage to tackle Rachmaninoff's notoriously challenging Third Piano Concerto, known as the "Rach 3." Famed for his huge repertoire and equally expansive keyboard reach, the Grammy-winning Ohlsson has captivated audiences around the globe with his dazzling technique and spellbinding fluidity, all of which are likely to be on full display during this performance. The concert is also set to include Pulitzer Prize winner Steven Stucky's 2003 Jeu de timbres and closes with Bartok's dramatic The Miraculous Mandarin, featuring the off-stage voices of the symphony chorus.
