Barb Jungr sings Bob Dylan at the Rrazz Room. The British singer has earned international praise for her versions of Dylan's music, with Billy Bragg calling her "possibly our best interpreter of Dylan's songs." She's touring in support of her new album The Man In The Long Black Coat, her second album of Dylan interpretations, which follows 2002's Every Grain of Sand. Jungr's 2010 album The Men I Love was named the best cabaret CD of the year by Time Out New York, and Talkin' Broadway called it one of 2010's top ten vocal albums.

Smooth Soul at the Rrazz Room With the Dramatics

Full Price:
$50.00
Our Price:
$25.00

Enjoy some classic smooth soul and quiet storm R&B in the sophisticated and intimate setting of the Rrazz Room, one of San Francisco's premiere night clubs. In their early '70s heyday, the Dramatics were an anomaly: a Detroit singing group signed not to their famed hometown label, Motown, but to the legendary Southern soul label Stax/Volt. Their sound, as heard on hit singles like "Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get" and "In the Rain," straddles both worlds, combining the Temptations-like silky-smooth harmonies of Motown with the earthiness of Memphis-style soul. Still performing after more than 40 years, the group features veteran member L.J. Reynolds along with Willie Ford, Donald Albert and Winzell Kelly. Learn More

Absoultely fabulous! I was awestruck by Barb's rendering of Dylan's music and was literally moved to tears on many of her arrangments...(The pianist was brillant!) Barb obviously is passionate about Dylan's work (& life) and channeled his work in a way that was breathtaking! She brought new life to his music and deepend my understanding of his music/life with her endearing storytelling along the way! She is a delightful & joyful performer. I recommend this venue to anyone who adores the poetry of Dylan... quite a show! And she plays the harmonica - quiet a treat!

Description

Barb Jungr may be the definitive performer of one of the great musical icons of the twentieth century, Bob Dylan.  In 2005 the BBC hosted a Barbican concert to celebrate his work.  In introducing Jungr, Billy Bragg described her as “possibly our best interpreter of Dylan’s songs”.  He is not alone in this view, as Jungr has been wowing audiences and critics worldwide with her astonishingly powerful reinterpretations of this great songwriter’s work.

Following a critically acclaimed tour of the UK, where she resides, Barb returns to the US to celebrate Dylan’s songs and to promote her latest Linn Record's release The Man In The Long Black Coat, featuring 13 Dylan songs that she has recorded over the last 8 years.

In the UK and New York Jungr plays to packed houses and was recently heralded in a feature about her work in the New York Times. Known for her passionate singing, minimal and subtle arrangements and great humor, and accompanied by the best pianists in New York and the UK, Jungr has been hailed in the UK as being “tantalizingly close to mass attention”.
