BARS Season-Opening Concert
Cyrus Ginwala Conducts Bay Area Rainbow Symphony Season Opener
$25.00 - $35.00
$12.50 - $17.50*
Guest maestro Cyrus Ginwala wields the baton for the Bay Area Rainbow Symphony's 2012 kick-off concert, featuring pianist Marc Peloquin and a performance of Blue Cathedral
by Pulitzer and Grammy-winning composer Jennifer Higdon. Since its premiere in 2000, Higdon's one-movement tone poem in memory of her brother has become one of the most performed modern orchestral works by a living American composer. The piece will be followed by Peloquin's solo on Ravel's Piano Concerto in G, with Brahms' pastoral Symphony No. 2 providing a stirring finale. Come early for a free pre-concert event celebrating the 75th birthday of Pulitzer Prize-winning composer David Del Tredici, who's recently written several pieces celebrating the gay experience.
