BATS improvisers were good and professional as always. Show was short form so even the less funny games didnt last long. Overall was fun and funny show.
Theater got too hot and windows weren't open on time. Stanford improvisers were OK, and certainly have potential but were not nearly as good as the BATS crew. Thats probably why the lost.
the stanford crowd was loud and obnoxious. Somehow this was one of the most packed show at the the bats theater and while only a third of the people or so seemed to be from stanford, they were disproportionately loud and obnoxious - the improvisers played into it - thus alienating the rest of the audience.
A group of them set behind me and wouldnt stop coughing it was beyond distracting, i dont know why but expected more class from these people.
Theatresports, a performance format invited by improv master Keith Johnstone, is played by leagues all over the world. Theatresports is improvisation played as a sporting event. Teams of improvisers compete in a series of scenes, games, and challenges vying for points awarded by three Olympic-style judges (who score each scene on a scale from one to five.)
BATS vs. Stanford is a special, annual competition featuring the talented college students who make up the Stanford Improvisors (a.k.a. the SImps). They will be squaring off against the old pros from the BATS Main Stage Company.
Directed by Lisa Rowland.
