Sandy I've been watching BATS for 25 years on and off. Sometimes I go every week and then I'll forget about them for a few years. I've attended 3 BATS events in the last week and my face still hurts from laughing so much. Saturday night's "Battle of the Neighborhoods" between the "Oaktown Crew" and the "Laurel Heights Battling Therapists" had me laughing all night. Gerry Lawlor's bling and falling down pants as part of the Oaktown Crew was hilarious. The Battling Therapists, with their pipes, suit jackets (and one velvet jacket), started every set with a huddle and an inspirational cheer: "We're here to help!" "Let's talk about your mother!" "Can we go deeper?" had me chuckling. |

More Details About This Event: All summer long, teams playing as residents of various San Francisco neighborhoods and 'burbs (and even some out-of-towners!) will battle head-to-head in the annual Battle-of-the-Bay Theatresports Tournament!
Theatresports is BATS Improv's signature format. It's improvisation played as a sporting event. At the end of the evening, the team with the most points wins! In this annual summer tournament, BATS's improvisational troupe divides into three-person teams, two of which square off each night in performing improvised games, songs, or scenes inspired by audience suggestions. Judges award points and designate each night's winning team, which advances to the next round. The tournament culminates in a championship match on August 2, and the champs playing Los Angeles Theatresports (LATS) in the finale to BATS's summer festival in August.
