Bebe Neuwritch is a delight on the stage; we never saw her 'live' before. The music selection was magnificent, and eye-opening. It was both entertaining and educational. We would love to see Ms. Neuwirth in San Francisco again.

My reason for giving Bebe Neuwirth's show only 2 stars is not really because I didn't enjoy her but the sound system was really terrible. Completely the wrong balance with the piano being much too loud and consequently overpowering her sound.

After the first few songs she really got into it. Her renditions of
Kurt Weil were perfect for her voice.
Bebe Neuwirth, winner of two Tony Awards and two Emmy Awards, introduces her new show, Songs with Piano. Neuwirth focuses on the works of Kurt Weill and Kander & Ebb, but also explores such landmark composers as Cole Porter, Stephen Sondheim and Tom Waits.
Raised in Princeton, NJ, Neuwirth has established herself as a versatile performer on stage, film and television. Bebe has been crossing the country with Bebe Neuwirth Sings Weill and Kander & Ebb for the past two years, working with such venerable symphonies as the Seattle Symphony and the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra.
She most recently starred as Roxie in the Broadway production of Chicago -- the same production for which she won a Tony Award, Drama Desk Award and an Astaire Award for her turn as Velma -- making her the only triple-threat to play both leading lady roles on Broadway. She also received a Tony Award for her role as Nickie in Sweet Charity. Her other Broadway credits include Fosse, Damn Yankees, Dancin’, Little Me and A Chorus Line.
In addition, she has performed leading roles in numerous regional theater productions including West Side Story for Cleveland Opera, the title role in Kiss of the Spiderwoman on London’s West End, The Three Penny Opera at A.C.T. and Katherine in The Taming of the Shrew at Williamstown Theater Festival. In the summer of 2004, Neuwirth completed a successful run of Here Lies Jenny at the Zipper Theater in New York. The show played the next year in San Francisco to rave reviews. Comprised of music by Kurt Weill, the show was created by Leslie Stifelman, Roger Rees, Ann Reinking and Neuwirth.
Neuwirth’s work in film includes Liberty Heights, Summer of Sam, Celebrity, Jumanji, Green Card, The Paint Job, Bugsy and Tadpole, among others. On television she is well known for her role of Lilith Sternin on Cheers, for which she won two Emmy Awards. Other television appearances include her Emmy-nominated portrayal of Dorothy Parker in Dash and Lily and guest work on Frasier and Star Trek, The Next Generation. Two seasons ago, she starred in NBC's Law and Order: Trial by Jury.
Neuwirth is a recipient of the 2007 Dance Magazine Award, the 2007 CTFD Rolex Dance Award and in 1997 became an Honorary Ziegfeld Girl.
