The show was a bit too "cheesy" for my taste. I am a psychotherapist and had a totally different picture in my mind of what the play would be like. There was too much over acting and too many over-written parts if you ask me. I thought the comedy should have been based on more realistic events, not outlandish "never gonna happen" shtick.
On the positive side, the woman who plays Prudence is quite good.
Beyond Therapy tells the story of Bruce and Prudence, both in psychotherapy and both neurotic, and their search for love. The play mines big laughs from such subjects as the cult of therapy, dating, pop culture, casual sex, and relationship commitment.
