Featuring the music of Green Day and based on their classic album of the same name, the rock musical American Idiot tells the story of three lifelong friends who must choose between their dreams and the comfort of suburbia. Directed by Michael Mayer, the Tony Award-winning director of Spring Awakening, American Idiot features the smash hits "Boulevard of Broken Dreams," "Holiday" and "21 Guns." A two time Tony Award-winner and nominee for Best Musical, American Idiot played for more than 400 performances on Broadway, where The New York Times called it "thrilling and emotionally charged, as moving as anything on Broadway!" This engagement at the Orpheum Theatre is a Bay Area homecoming for Idiot which had its pre-Broadway run at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre in 2009. Learn More

Description
After seven years of producing cutting-edge indie theater, Off-Market will close its doors at the end of January 2011 with a B.O.O.M.
PianoFight and Combined Artform are proud to announce the Best Of Off-Market Festival, running January 7th – 29th, 2011. A former resident company and manager at Off-Market, Leela Theater returns to its first home as part of B.O.O.M. Fest with an ensemble improvised performance that’s honest and genuine and guaranteed to take huge risks.
Inspired by the ancient Sanskrit word, Leela was founded in February 2003 to create, support, and produce new original works while encompassing the art of improvisation. Every work created is based around Leela's powerful mission of truthful, artistic play.
