When I saw this event it sounded really fun – and I’d never heard of Vino Moda so we thought we’d give one of their evets a try. We love wine and are always looking for new and exciting things to try event-wise. I ordered 3 tix and we arrived at 4:15pm (the event started at 4pm) to see a long line forming outside. No big deal – lines happen… but the event people kept moving the line and breaking it up, so dozens of people lost their place repeatedly and got upset. The most upsetting thing to me was that while we waited 30+ minutes in line other people were just walking in, not paying AND enjoying the perks of the event. I’m not assuming this happened – I actually witnessed it. The event was so poorly run that when you walked in it was chaos – and no ropes or partitions to stop people and check if they paid. Just a stamp you got that no one ever looked at. So needless to say it was annoying. So, ok, we get in and start to mill around. This was a cupcake competition and wine tasting. So here’s the good and the bad. If you love wine it was totally worth the ticket price paid – the reason I rated this even “it was ok” was because of the wine. Otherwise we would have rated it much lower. There were a bunch of wineries giving generous pours and discounts for bottles purchased on site. There was actually an assorment of cheese, grapes and crackers, too, which was nice – although next time they should make it buffet style. They were set on tables surrounded by chairs, that of course people sat in, which made it awkward to reach over them to grab some food. It made us feel like we were taking something that wasn’t ours, if that makes sense. The cupcake portion was disappointing to say the least. It appeared that half the table where bakeries were supposed to be were empty and the ones that were supposed to be giving away free samples were actually charging for them. We had one bakery tell us that they got in trouble for giving tastes away for free. Again, we were there more for the wine but to be told we needed to pay $3 per taste when some were selling who cupcakes at the same price? Seriously? I actually tried to find someone from Vino Moda to ask about this but everyone was a volunteer except one guy I spoke to that was totally overwhelmed. I didn’t have the heart to push him about was going on as he seemed to have his hands quite full. All in all we enjoyed ourselves but I hope Vino Moda gets their act together for the next event. I don’t know if we’ll attend another one.

If I could give it negative stars, I would. What a complete waste of money and time. This event was unorganized and they ran out of food/drinks way to early. This so called "unlimited" event should of been written as kinda unlimited/$3.00 per cupcake/and unlimited until we run out which will probably be around 6pm. The event was suppose to last until 9pm. Every booth besides the wineries had "sold out" signs. There were a lot of underage people (who were laughing about the fact that they got away with getting in) which wasn't too hard considering there were no lines, no one really checked our IDs. The food - if you want to call it that, was samples of pretzel chips. 2 little pretzels per person. The cocktails by Smart Energy was $3.00. They really should of wrote this description better. They made it seem like it was unlimited tastings, etc. But $3.00 on top of the fee's is ridiculous. I would of been fine with the cost but at least say it so people aren't shocked. Obviously I wasn't the only one upset by this. I will never go to a vino moda event and I hope no one else does. It seriously is a waste of money.

way too many people(which is what happens when you have an event offered as a Groupon) There was trash all over the place left by the people attending the event early and long lines. The $10 off coupon for wine was great though. I only got a cupcake because I asked a guy bringing more in nicely.

well, being that I got a designated driver ticket and just planned to sample some cupcakes, and being that there were no samples left by the time I got there, only $3 cupcakes for sale, I'd have to say that there was some poor planning on someone's part. I was told that the vendors were asked to bring samples for 200, yet over 2000 tickets were sold to the event. I have a pet peave about paying to get into an event, only to find you get nothing for your entry fee except the opportunity to buy (full price) items. Not the first time this has happened to me in San Fran. Beware Oktoberfest!!!
