Mezzo-soprano Carly Ozard brings her brand-new cabaret show Something Wonderful? to the Rrazz Room at Hotel Nikko for three special nights. Dubbed "The Kathy Griffin of Cabaret" by Chad Jones, her 2008 debut comic cabaret, Bitter and Be Gay!, told of being the biggest "Fag Hag" in San Francisco. In 2009, Ozard won the Cabaret Showcase Showdown, and was named "Best New Cabaret Performer″ for that year. Her next gem was titled Bewitched Bothered and Bipolar. Now, with Something Wonderful? she takes audiences on a musical journey about struggling to find the right person to love. Featuring the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein, Lucinda Williams, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Elton John, Bette Midler, and more, this show comically draws from Ozard's own experiences. The result is a musical tale of truth, loss, hope -- and even scandal!

Smooth Soul at the Rrazz Room With the Dramatics

Full Price:
$50.00
Our Price:
$25.00

Enjoy some classic smooth soul and quiet storm R&B in the sophisticated and intimate setting of the Rrazz Room, one of San Francisco's premiere night clubs. In their early '70s heyday, the Dramatics were an anomaly: a Detroit singing group signed not to their famed hometown label, Motown, but to the legendary Southern soul label Stax/Volt. Their sound, as heard on hit singles like "Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get" and "In the Rain," straddles both worlds, combining the Temptations-like silky-smooth harmonies of Motown with the earthiness of Memphis-style soul. Still performing after more than 40 years, the group features veteran member L.J. Reynolds along with Willie Ford, Donald Albert and Winzell Kelly. Learn More

Very sincere fun show. The narrative was clean and personal. Most cabarets feel forced, but hers was so natural and felt sincerely connected to the material My favorite was "The Age Of Not Believing" from Bed Knobs And Broomsticks.

Carly Ozard is a wonderful performer. Her voice fills you with joy and sends your spirit soaring. Her material is relatable to most people, and her sense of humor is unparalleled. Excellent show! Just so sad we are going to lose her to new York!

Description

"This is not a trite show about love and how grand it is, or how badly we want it. It's an observation from experience: Most of us are so crazy, it's hard to figure out who and what we deserve. But in this life, we all deserve to experience something — something wonderful."  —Carly Ozard
