Freddy Cole Sings the Great American Songbook at the RRazz Room
- Full Price:
- $40.00
- Our Price:
- $20.00
Just in time for Valentine's Day, spend an evening with Lionel Frederick "Freddy" Cole, the youngest brother of Nat "King" Cole. There are certain unmistakable similarities between the brothers' voices and, just like Nat, Freddy plays piano and sings, yet his voice is raspier, smokier and perhaps even jazzier. Freddy Cole is a nonpareil vocal interpreter of the Great American Songbook and a superbly swinging pianist to boot. Head out to the RRazz Room with your sweetheart for a concert to remember. Russ is the hub of these shows, but I have can't believe how fantastic his team rallied in his absence. Don't get me wrong, I wish he was there, but I'm glad I was!Written on Dec 23 2010

What a wonderful show Russ assembled & produced for his holiday guests, us...the audience. The event was filled with quality entertainment interjected with humor and sprinkled with personal stories. I enjoyed every minute and look forward to including this event in my holiday plans for 2010.Written on Dec 29 2009
As a side note: I have enjoyed Russ Lorenson's version of "Christmas in San Francisco" as played on KOIT radio for many years. In April 09' I had the pleasure of meeting the man personally. What a gentleman he was and I'm still impressed that he remembers my name.
Russ has a heart of gold and its obvious that appreciates and respects his fans.
BRAVO RUSS!!

Russ performed and produced a great show. it was entertaining, there was not a dull spot in the show - the guest artists were very enjoyable as entertainers and singers, and each one quite different an artist from the next - and Russ was terrific ... he was quite at home on stage, light-hearted and playful, and vocally spot-on! Save the date for his next year's Christmas show on Dec 22. It's already on the books. I'll be there.Written on Dec 25 2009

What a great way to get in the Christmas mood! Russ put together a fantastic show with a variety of super talent. Russ has a beautiful voice and an ear for the perfect phrase. Suzanna, Jonathan, and Carly were an added bonus. Look forward to Dec. 22, 2010!Written on Dec 26 2009

Description
Skip the Christmas caroling and spend a cozy winter's evening with Russ Lorenson and his special guests as they celebrate a jazzy Christmas, San Francisco style! An annual Rrazz Room tradition, there's something for everyone in this swinging evening of jingle jazz. Russ Lorenson is heard each year on "The Bay Area's Official Christmas Station - 96.5 KOIT-FM" with his recording of "Christmas in San Francisco," a holiday favorite for Bay Area listeners. Russ has established a reputation as one of the San Francisco Bay Area’s leading interpreters of jazz standards, with a sound and approach that place him at the intersection of Broadway, jazz, and pop – the very essence of the Great American Songbook.
Nominated for a 2007 MAC Award by the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs, he has toured the US, UK and Europe, appearing in concert with such luminaries as Broadway stars Karen Mason (Hairspray, Mamma Mia, Sunset Boulevard) and Dale Kristien (Phantom of the Opera), “Queen of Cabaret” Andrea Marcovicci, jazz diva Wesla Whitfield, and as the opening act for the legendary Eartha Kitt. Lorenson is best known for his critically-acclaimed tribute to an American music icon in his show, Benedetto/Blessed: Celebrating the Life and Music of Tony Bennett. Russ' previous nightclub show, A Little Travelin’ Music, played to sold-out audiences across the US. His debut CD, of the same name, was released in May 2006 on the LML Music label and features songs from the show and includes duets with special guests Shawn Ryan and Klea Blackhurst. His second CD, the jazzy holiday collection What I Want For Christmas, was also released on LML Music in 2006, and has received extensive radio airplay in major markets across the US. Both CDs were included on the Nominating Ballot for the 2006 Grammy Awards in the category of "Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album" alongside such artists as Tony Bennett, Michael Bublé, and John Pizzarelli.
