What a great show! The host was amazing! I'd love to hang out with this guy and Bruce for a cocktail. Karel was good but I agree with other reviewers: needs some focus and should try to be funny without being SoCal mean - otherwise it's like watching a crackhead at Beer Bust.Written on Nov 24 2009
Bruce never disappoints. We can't wait to see him again! He keeps it real and doesn't have to play nasty to win fans.

Host was really funny; would have preferred a set from him vs Karel - to be honest. Karel has a great mind but he needs to be a bit more focused - and little less mean - to be funny. What worksd on the radio doesn't quite always translate to the stage. Bruce is always funny - from his wit, class - yes - and his back-stage stories. He has worked with them all and we could litn to his anecdotes for days! He made it the 3 stars.Written on Nov 20 2009

The venue needs a face lift. Especially the restrooms. If there are no in and out privaleges, why do they have to put a big, ugly stamp on your hand? Karel had some good moments, but seemed a little spastic, unfocused and probably was stoned "legally" as his song said. Bruce is funny and has some great stories. Would love to hear more dirt about people he has worked with. The crowd was small, but seemed to enjoy the evening.Written on Nov 20 2009

Bruce was wonderful as always. And Nico Santos was very good as the warm up/MC for the night. I would have given more stars if it Karel wasn't on the bill. That man is just not funny at all. It was painful to sit through his act.Written on Dec 11 2009

More Information About Comedian Bruce Vilanch with Karel
Description
Bruce Vilanch is a two-faced fella: Bearded, he is one of the most sought-after comedy writers in Hollywood, winner of a bunch of Emmys and noted as the “Hollywood Square” just to the left of Whoopi. Shaved, he spent two years as Edna Turnblad, Baltimore housewife and superstar, on tour and on Broadway in the smash musical adaptation of the John Waters film “Hairspray.”
Most recently in 2008, Bruce co-wrote “The Showgirl Must Go On” with Bette Midler which opened at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and has since received rave reviews. And in 2006 Bruce was seen on VH1’s popular fitness and nutrition reality-series, “Celebrity Fit Club.” Who knows what Bruce will look like for his next performance?
In addition to “Hairspray,” he has appeared in such legendary epics as “Ice Pirates,” “Mahogany” and “The Morning After.” A frequent guest on talk shows, Bruce won his Emmys for co-writing back-to-back Oscar shows with Billy Crystal. He’s written 16 Oscar-casts so far, as well as a number of Tonys, Grammys, and even Emmys, although he never got an Emmy for writing an Emmy – that would be award-show incest of the lowest order.
His bizarre career was documented in the film “Get Bruce!” Bruce’s one-man show, “Almost Famous,” tickled Off-Broadway audiences for three months and has made a number of appearances around the country. He is frequently mistaken for Brad Pitt.
As an openly gay talk radio sensation for years with a syndicated show Karel has had #1 shows on #1 stations such as KFI Los Angeles and KGO San Francisco. Karel is a radio and television personality, author and HuffingtonPost.com columnist whose Hi-NRG personality and never secretive opinions leap off the air and on to the stage, making him a favorite target of Bill O"Reilly and countless other conservatives. He's performed in over 3000 shows on radio and TV and is one of the most listened to and read openly gay men in America.
He did two seasons on Spike TV's Ultimate Revenge hosted by Ryan Seacrest and took to the stage in Los Angeles in two highly acclaimed productions "Out West" and "The Second Story." He penned an award winning PSA for the GLAAD's "I Do" marriage contest and has an upcoming network comedy special.
He has written and hosted several internationally televised events including the International Press Academy's Golden Satellite Awards (IPA) and as a singer has even made first round nominations in the Dance Category for Grammy. His comedy has led him to the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, the Improv and the Laugh Factory, and "Karel Stands Up" has played to sold out audiences. Over the years Karel has met and interviewed countless celebrities, and one of his favorites is Bruce Vilanch; so the pairing of the two is a natural.
