Comedian, actor and Daily Show correspondent Al Madrigal, one of the most gifted stand-up comics working today, brings his hilarious stories to Cobb's Comedy Club. Since starting his career right here in San Francisco, Madrigal has found success in all areas of comedy. He's performed stand-up on the Tonight Show, Conan, Lopez Tonight, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live, and was named Best Stand-Up Comedian at the HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. Cecily has serious talent; I can appreciate her ability. However, the show was nothing more than an hour and 45 minutes of improv, to which I could have gotten my fill of at BATS or one of the other great improv troops in the city. Her female companion on stage tried hard but wasn't able to keep up with Cecily's talent. I'll gladly give her another shot, though, as I see her with the potential to be one of the greats...
Cecily Strong joined the cast of _Saturday Night Live _in the Fall of 2012. Previous to SNL, Cecily performed as a member of the Second City National Touring Company and served as an understudy for the Second City Main Stage and ETC shows in Chicago. She also improvised regularly at iO in Chicago.
She studied improvisation at both Second City and ImprovOlympic in Chicago, and she appeared at the Chicago Sketchfest, Chicago Just for Laughs, the New York Sketch Fest, and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Cecily Strong has a BFA in Theatre from the California Institute of the Arts, and she was raised in Oak Park, Illinois.
