I almost rated this two stars, largely because of the ineptitude of the opener. He obviously hadn't been doing stand-up long, so let's give him a little slack. I don't mind being part of someone's poor, sad beginnings.Written on Aug 04 2009
I'd say the same goes for Jon to a certain extent. It's been remarked that his stand-up felt a little unrefined, and it's apparent this is a new venture. I can forgive him some repetition for that. I like the surreal; I like getting what I don't expect. His use of pre-recorded video was great, and in some parts off-putting in a hilarious way (to me). I can see how others would just be confused, but I thought it was great.

Six of us went to the first showing last Friday night, guys and girls, no prisses. We found some of it funny, but most of the time we just looked at each other, e.g. "WTF?"Written on Aug 03 2009
Clearly, it's much different performing in front of a live audience than distributing via YouTube. I think Jon could eventually do really well (we all agreed that he could end up on SNL or something someday), but his shtick requires a lot of honing.

I wasn't really sure what to expect but this ended up being one hilarious night. I don't think he's done much stand-up before but he had very good material and pulled it off flawlessly. Songs were even better live!!Written on Aug 03 2009

More Information About Comedian Jon Lajoie
Description
Canadian comedian and actor Jon Lajoie is one of the few talents who has been able to manifest the cult following for his internet videos into a mainstream audience, placing him in a preeminent spot in the comedy landscape. With ironically singsong lyrics about everything from boring everyday activities to genitals and getting high, his videos have over 100 million aggregate views on YouTube and Lajoie’s website alone.
Lajoie is a frequent contributor to Funny or Die, has been featured in USA Today, and recently landed a talent development deal with HBO. He is also a classically trained actor and has appeared on a light drama in Canada for the past several years. He was also named one of Variety's Top Ten Comics To Watch list. Jon performed Jon Lajoie: Live as F*ck in front of a sellout audience at this year’s Montreal Comedy and followed up with another sellout performance at Montreal’s Le National soon after. He is best known for his comedic anthems “High as Fuck,” “Show Me Your Genitals,” and “Everyday Normal Guy.”
