This talented sketch comic is not a stand up comedian. Stand up is a whole different skill set than what Michael McDonald currently has. He tells stories like a funny friend at your dinner table - amusing, engaging, charming, but not stage worthy. He'll have no problem with the delivery if he ever gets the writing down.Written on Jun 13 2010

Mayhap
I had no idea what to expect with him and stand up since I had only seen him on TV. But I will tell you I laughed my ass off.Written on Jun 14 2010
Just remember when seeing a bigger headliner like him, you must get there atleast 30 minutes early if you want a decent seat. for those who complained about sitting in the far back by the bar, show up early and you wont have that issue. and drunks at a comedy club? really? you dont say?
If you want to see a Hilarious, non rasisit (which seems to be most comedians these days), and you want to laugh your ass off... this is who you should see.

He is an overall storyteller. His comedy comes in the form of a ten minute anecdote and lacks the short quick punchlines seen with most stand up comedians. I enjoyed and smiled throughout his bit, but rarely found myself actually laughing. He pulls out some Mad TV stuff just to please the crowd, but overall not something I'd do again.Written on May 23 2011

Michael McDonald was born and raised in Fullerton, Orange County, California. After a friend took him to see a sketch comedy/improv show at L.A.'s famous Groundlings Theater, McDonald quit his job as a banker, enrolled in the Groundlings Improv Program, and eventually became a performing member of the troupe from 1992 to 1997.
His first professional writing and acting jobs came from Concorde Pictures, Roger Corman's infamous low-budget movie studio. Starting as an extra, McDonald quickly landed dozens of film roles. He gradually moved behind the camera as a writer and director for the studio.
In the 1990’s, McDonald also worked steadily in television, landing guest spots on Seinfeld, Ellen, Just Shoot Me and NewsRadio.
Finally, in 1998, he obtained a starring role on MADtv, where he enjoyed an unprecedented ten-year run. Popular celebrity impressions include Dr. Phil, Simon Cowell, John Kerry, Maury Povich, Bill O’Reilly, and Tim Gunn.
In 2007, McDonald left MADtv to work both behind and in front of the camera on a variety of television shows. Recent acting credits include Scrubs, Desperate Housewives, Pushing Daisies, Seventh Heaven, Reaper, Kath & Kim, Hannah Montana and Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List.
