Terrence McNally's Internationally Acclaimed Play Corpus Christi
This re-imagined passion play by four-time Tony Award-winner Terrence McNally (Kiss of the Spider Woman, Master Class, Ragtime), depicts Jesus and the Apostles as gay men living in modern-day Texas. It ignited a firestorm of controversy upon its premiere in 1998 for its use of gay themes to explore Christianity. In 2006, a revival production in Los Angeles was hailed by critics and continued to sell out on a national tour. In Europe, the play received an Amnesty International Freedom of Expression nomination at the 2007 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and earned the Intercultural Dialogue Award at the International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival in 2008. The acclaimed production continues to tour and a film crew has documented their travels to less-tolerant communities, resulting in the film Corpus Christi: Playing with Redemption. Here's your chance to see the critically acclaimed live production.
