Members Who Went Said:A delight. Pocket Opera company is the best entertainment in town.
Gabriela It was wonderful. The entire opera is in English so it's easy to understand and they have modernized it a bit so it's relatable. There are a lot of comedic moments! It was fun! Lots of good voices and it was great having the orchestra on stage.
Belinda Zell The theater is wonderful, with very small, friendly with comfortable seats with plenty of leg room! The opera was hilarious and beautifully sung and acted. It was great fun |

Event Highlights
More Details About This Event: Blame it on Ernesto! Smitten with a delightful though impoverished young widow named Norina, he has refused to marry the socially correct lady that his aged but strong-willed uncle (Pasquale) has so obligingly selected for him. To retaliate for this gross insubordination, Pasquale not only casts him from the house, but in order to guarantee that his ungrateful nephew will inherit none of his ample fortune, he decides on the simple but drastic step of getting married himself. Little does he know what he’s stepping into. The stage is set for a comic clash of wills, invigorated by some of Donizetti’s most intoxicating music, that leads to a happy ending for all concerned.
Directed by Phil Lowery With Roger McCracken as Pasquale, Brian Thorsett as Ernesto, Heidi Moss as Norina and Todd Donovan as Dr. Malatesta Pocket Opera believes that the true grandeur of opera lies not in the spectacle, but in the pure, unpretentious marriage of music and words. With Pocket Opera, the distance between performer and audience is minimal. Opera glasses are not needed. By combining Donald Pippin’s incomparable English version with his narrative flair, using minimal scenic elements and a pocket-sized philharmonic on stage along with the singers, Pocket Opera is the theatre of the heart and mind. About Pocket Opera: Hailed by the press as "triumphant," "thrilling" and "funny," Pocket Opera enchants audiences with innovative, unpredictable productions that aim for the heart, challenge the mind and tickle the funny bone. Superb professional singers perform original English translations of classic and lesser known operas, accompanied by the Pocket Philharmonic. Dr. Pippin's vibrant and witty translations are also available to other companies and educational institutional.
