It wasn't till I entered the theater and noticed the audience was comprised almost entirely of lollipop licking, skittles eating teenagers that I realized that this was a youth production of Dracula. For the most part, the actors seemed pretty ill at ease on stage & many rushed through their lines like they were praying for it to be over. That said, there were some fun aspects: two of the key characters were of different genders than in the original tale, Mara Shuster-Lefkowitz playing MISS Renfield took that juicy part and ran with it, and I thought the Brides did a good job as well. Seeing kids onstage is always somewhat endearing to me, and while this was not at all what I expected, sometimes being surprised can be a good thing.

It was a fun play. Music and costumes were surprisingly good. The acting was a good effort, but some of the cast shone more than others. Look for good performances from dracula, lucy, van helsing and the crazy "rendstorm"(?). It was a fun night out with a cast that was young, invested and entertaining!

Mara Shuster-Lefkowitz playing Miss Renfield made this play in my opinion. Her acting ability made her character come alive every minute she was on stage. Unfortunately noticeably more than most of the other character. The costumes were wonderful and the set design was well done. All in all though it was a good presentation by the entire cast and I'm glad I went.
