Writer and comic Bruce Vilanch steps into a role previously performed by Bert Lahr and Red Skelton in this production of Du Barry Was a Lady. Featuring music and lyrics by Cole Porter, the story follows a hapless nightclub washroom attendant who wins the Irish Sweepstakes. An inadvertent dose of knock-out drops transports him to a dream world where he imagines himself as King Louis XV in pursuit of the lovely and mischievous Madame Du Barry. Porter's score features terrific numbers including "Friendship," "Well, Did You Evah?," "Do I Love You?," "Katie Went to Haiti" and "But in the Morning, No."

I went to a Saturday matinee and street parking is fine. I would think that evening parking is also good. I know that one block away, on Pacific, there is plenty of parking because the block is industrial other than Globe Restaurant. A terrific restaurant and only one block away. The Habit of Art travel • Aug 18 2014 star this tip starred
