view more less of this reviewIt was a pleasant trip, nothing extraodrinary though. The ship went towards the Golden Gate Bridge, under it, and then twice around Alcatraz and back to Pier 39. It was nice that the ship wasn't crowded and you could move between the open area and the inside space depending on how cold it would get. At some point the crew got so exited talking among themselves during the trip that i could not hear guide, so i just moved outside and stood to listen next to the loudspeaker. All together, it was a nice and restful experience. If i were to go again, i'd rather take another trip directly toAlcatraz, because that was my aspiration. You come pretty close to the ireland and get some info about it, but it was not enough for me.

Ticket seller told us we can get in line but after purchasing specific time tickets on-line we were told they could not guarantee we would get on the boat! Oh, but they still would accept our tickets another day......

We didn't really take it for the Alcatraz aspect, more for the length of it - an hour and a half combined with the $13 price. This was awesome! They sell snacks and drinks on the cruise. The cruise staff is really super nice and accomodating - they even wished by Dad a happy 70th birthday over their PA system! I'll definitely do this again.

Since the regular Alcatraz tour books up, this is definitely an excellent option - also for folks that won't be able to walk around on the Rock or who have more limited time. I'll recommend this for future visitors.
