Don't skip the mooncakes. The bakery we went to sells miniature ones - taste more than one!

The tour guide was a no-show. There was no tour. Almost a day later, there has been no return of my message to "Tracy" at the tour guide's office. I also still have not gotten confirmation of a refund from her or from Goldstar. AVOID this one.

At only two tenths of a square mile, this most colorful of districts is the most densely populated and one of San Francisco’s most fascinating neighborhoods. We’ll visit the staples of daily life in the neighborhood as we traverse the hidden alleys and side streets where you will see: The open air markets, fish mongers, flower stalls, a Buddhist temple or two, an herbalist’s shop where eastern medicine is practiced, a fortune cookie factory; nineteenth-century era street musicians, produce vendors. The tour will also stop at Portsmouth Square, the heart of Chinatown and the site of historical events going back to the 1800s, this is Chinatown’s backyard and here we’ll see elders playing elephant chess and practicing Tai-Chi, and a band that seems to play every day, all day. Along the way you’ll have the opportunities to try out the local foods, as we show you the Chinatown’s best bakeries, try dim-sum, moon cakes, or coconut custards then we will end at a delightful tea shop unlike anything you have ever seen before. From the main tourist strip to the Churches and Temples, to the bustle of locals shopping for the evening meal to the back alleys and side streets in between, you’ll see the Chinatown that tourists rarely get to see. Because this after all is the real Chinatown.

Tour guide gratuity is not included.
