I had the regenerating facial. Very good facial. Very nice staff. Careful attention was paid to my sensitive skin and the facialist really seemed to care about what she was doing; she answered questions and gave helpful advice. This was my second time visiting Caramella through Goldstar. One thing to consider - there did seem to be a bit of a hard sell to buy products after the facial. This was not the case the first time I went, but this time I felt like the pressure was on...
I loved my facial! Nai has given me about 7 facials and they are always relaxing and calming. Also, Nai knows so much about skin and gives me tid bits on how to better care for my skin. I have sensitive, olive toned skin and it's a challenge to find a professional who knows how to deal with such skin. Nai is knowledgeable and confident about the services she offers.
This is my second facial with Nai. She is wonderful - so full of information. I love that they don't try to sell me their products!
I’ve found a new skincare home and highly recommend the extremely knowledgeable, Cat. She initially became an esthetician to treat her once problem, now radiant skin. She’s careful, thorough and genuine about recommending products she believes in...she's not pushy in any way. This was the first time in years of regular facials that I didn’t have some sort of breakout two or three days after. Even after a week, my skin is hydrating better and the spots are gone.

This was my third trip to Caramella for a facial through Goldstar and was the best so far. They were on time, had a file on me from the previous visits (with personal notes in it - so they knew a little about me - which I thought was a nice touch) and after the facial were not at all pushy about trying to offer products for sale. I think they got the message from other goldstar comments. The facial itself was wonderful. I really could see and feel a difference and my facialist was friendly and honest and well-informed. The only thing I missed was that this facial came with hardly any massage, which I generally look forward to... otherwise, it was a great experience. thank you.

This place just continues to get better and better. Every time I go (this was my 4th or 5th visit), I feel like they have made the rooms even nicer and have added small, but special touches to the office and the overall experience. Excellent, friendly and knowledgeable staff. And if you pick the wrong facial for your skin type from the Goldstar choices, they will adapt to your needs.
I loved the microdermabrasion/facial. I left with red spots, but my skin looked softer the day after. All but one zit was zapped away. They told me I could come back if I had any breakouts, I think I may just take that offer and come back for the free electro zapping.
I was scheduled for a micrdermabrasion but after she examined my skin I was advised to do a peel instead since my skin has redness in areas and seemed a little irritated. I took the advice and my skin looks great!
It was great! Very relaxing, and she made some good recommendations for my skin. Didn't try to get me to buy products, which was nice.
Half-priced microderm within walking distance of my home? You bet and I loved it. Tranquil rooms, that always welcometouch of real hospitality, and a thorough, professional treatment makes me want to come back for more. I'd definitely recommend to friends!

They were prompt and very friendly. I enjoyed the facial and my skin looks great.
Alla was great. I had the deep pore facial, and I felt she was very thorough. The extractions might have been on the rough side, but better that than too light. There was no pressure to buy expensive products, which I appreciated. The place is somewhat downscale from salons like ReFresh, but quite comfortable.
As usual, the services are great. Very professional and totally pleasant.
While i enjoyed my friendly and knowledgeable esthetician, this wasn't quite the relaxing, "spa" experience i was looking for. The location is very no frills - it's in an old office building. Instead of nice, relaxing spa music and lighting, i got "ocean" or "rain" sounds out of a cheap, digital radio. In addition, instead of relaxing lighting, i got blazing overhead fluorescents when it came time to do the extractions. Not your usual, magnified, small, spot light.
Overall, i felt like i got a good facial from a friendly and charming esthetician and i would probably go back for the price. Just wanted to let the masses know what they're in for.
I had the Mircoderm. facial. The place was a little hard to find, and I should have google mapped it before I went. When I walked in there was only one girl to check me in and she ended up being the same woman who worked on me. I kept thinking, "Who's watching your door?" Either way it was a good experience. Didn't help my skin at all but it felt really good. I was suppose to go back for the LED light treatment as a follow-up appointment but I kept forgetting. Oopps. We overall a good experience though. Very relaxing.
This was my first facial experience ever and I can't believe that I have been missing out on this treatment for all of these years! I loved my experience... I had a very stressful day and it was a little tricky finding the location without a big sign, and I also did not write the address down, so it was my fault actually. But, once I finally found the building and walked into #304, into the 'spa', I realized that i was in for a relaxing experience.
I was given tea and water... I was brought into a room with dimmed lighting and a trickling water fall.
It felt so good to have so many sensations on my face- cool, warm, soft, gooey, hot, abrasive, gentle, rubbing, washing, wet, smooth. Having a little head rub makes my day, any day, and gentle tugging on my hair- aaah!
I left relaxed and tired, and feeling damn good. (Until I stepped onto Market Street where the mayhem began again) Go home after your facial, do not walk around Union Sq !
This spa is just 'ok.' I guess you could say you definitely understand why they have 1/2 price offers on Goldstar!
The reception seems like you're sitting in the hall, and they didn't have proper bathrobes once I was in the spa room.
The facialist left the room quite a few times, leaving me wondering what she was doing, and the owner was sort of strange when I left and was trying to force products on me.
All in all the facial wasn't bad, but it wasn't really the whole 'relaxation' experience.

Phytobiodermie Cellulite Reduction. If I had paid full price ($105) for this, I would have been really really upset. (Still kind of upset that I paid as much as I did.) I was under the impression this was a massage of sorts. It's NOT! A small vacuum-like attachment rolls on your thighs and bum (think rolling pin with rivets) and then you actually do get vacuumed in the same area. That's it! I guess the ultrasonic stuff happened with the rolling but not sure about the infrared application. Not worth it! Only saving grace was the clinician was nice. She asked if I wanted water (forgot to bring it to me) but had a sweet demeanor.
there was no option for, "it was okay." for the price it was a good value and the aesthetician was very sweet. the garlic smell on her hands made it less relaxing than it probably should have been though.
Note: Goldstar's comment about the front door being closed on weekdays is outdated. The staff at Caramella told me they moved from a previous location so this was not the case anymore.

Location: The spa's interior was a huge surprise of tranquility and peacefulness from butstling Kearny Street.
Price: unbeatable for what you get. I got a Microdermabrasion facial.
Service: A wonderful & experienced person, Nai, did my facial. She was great - friendly and genuinely interested in what she was doing (unlike some people who are distracted or disinterested), gentle but firm when needed, she gave a great head and shoulder massage, took her time with me, and recommended things that I should do without being pushy about selling anything. I lost track of how many products & steps it took because I was half asleep from being SOOOO relaxed.
As I write this 1 day later, my skin looks amazing (I didn't break out or turn red at all). Nai was great & it was worth every penny for the over 1 hour facial I got!!
This is my 4th facial from GoldStar and by far the best experience I have had.

Caramella is a small serene day spa with a simple yet comfortable reception area and cucumber water/tea while you wait. The receptionist/owner is friendly and polite. Nai was my esthetician for the deep pore cleansing and she did a great job. I walked in with a lot of acne and most of my blemishes were gone by the next day. Some estheticians are good at cleaning your skin but not so good at the head and neck massage, which to me is the best part. Nai was really good at both. I will be back.
It was ok. The treatment lady was nice, but ultimately, not sure if it was helpful or relaxing. My guess is that there are multiple treatments required for results to be noticeable, but I'm not willing to try. Plus, the treatment seems like something I can do myself at home.

The staff here is both warm and professional. Had an excellent facial and they have a great selection of products that are specifically recommended for you. No hard sell, however! The location is in an office building but do not be put off. The actual offices are beautiful and restful! Lovely tea, cookies and truffles await you when you finish - nice final touch!
i thought it was a good facial. but they always seem so confused when you show up.. and have no clue what you area there for. i find the rooms very cold and the beds aren't heated.. but all in all a good facial.
the facial itself was great. the owner however insisted i was irritated after overhearing my conversation when i wasn't at all. i just didn't want to buy the products and was in a rush to be somewhere else after the facial. you seriously get what you pay for! not only did the owner make assumptions, she argued with me, and kept insisting that i didn't enjoy my facial after chasing me down the hallway. horrible customer service! you don't make conclusions about your customers.. you ASK them how they're doing!!!
I booked a microdermabrasion facial. I asked Kat if it included extractions and she said yes. She never ended up performing extractions. I thought that was not very professional. The place was nicer than I thought it was going to be.
The owner was going on and on about how I should use a vitamin c serum and how SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic was the best. She stoped talking when I told her it is a product I currently use. I would go again at Goldstar prices but not full price.
Wonderful massage. I really felt pampered. The esthetician explained everything as she was doing it and made some great recommendations. The only complaint I have is that instead of a nice comfy facial table/bed - I was on a nicely made-up massage table. It started to become uncomfortable about halfway through the facial.
I had a microdermabrasion facial. It was enjoyable, but I was a little disappointed as the facial wasn't what I'm used at my normal salon. I don't think I'll go back again.
This spa is not the most luxiourious in the world, but if you want a great esthetician and a great facial, I would send you to Kat. I have seen her twice now, I have really problematic skin, and I would have to say that if you took a before and after pic of my skin you would not believe the improvement!! Kat is very knowlegable about the balance of skin, varying skin conditions, and how to treat skin through her practice. My skin is 3x better than it was before i went to her, and after going to another esthetician who didn't do as good of a job, I realized she is really good...

The owner is kinda pushy and tries to make the workers sell more, so if you feel pressure to buy, its from above... although i did buy some products my first time there and they are working, so not so bad after all...
Overall good experience. Caramella is centralized in a small, yet quaint suite. After walking in, I already felt relaxed. In the waiting area or relaxation room, they provide cozy seats, hot tea, cucumber water and treats (cookies, truffles etc.). For my visit, I ordered the Regenerating Facial. My assigned therapist did a fantastic job. She was friendly and provided tips on moisturizing and preventing dryness of skin. I'm already planning on scheduling for the microdermabrasion facial.

I got there on time, but had to wait 25 mins past my appointment time to get in. The facial it self was fine, however I don't see or feel a difference in my skin. The appointment ended 10 min early! I don't think I'll go back ever again...
The massage therapist & staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable, but I felt like she spent more time cleaning my face with wet towels than with creams & cleansers. She spent about one minute applying product and then would spend five minutes cleaning it off. The massage was not very good either. It seemed like an amateur facial.
I had a microdermabrasion facial. Cat's technique was very good, and she gave me a nice upper body massage (a real massage, not just a few soothing strokes) while my final mask was on. She also had a nice bedside manner. She did recommend a product for me but didn't push it. I will go to her again.
The facialist was very nice and completely catered the facial to my very sensitive and difficult skin. Although this spa doesn't have the amenities that some look for when going to a spa, it has great people working there who are very knowledgeable and really know how to give a great facial!
They recently moved to a new location and it's beautiful and serene.

Nai did my facial and was extremely nice. My skin looks great (a little red the day of). Everything was clean and timely. I got good advice on skincare but would like to warn about the hardsell on their salon products. I would go back.
Angela was so gentle that I fell asleep several times during the anti-aging treatment, and woke to find my wrinkles diminished quite a bit. I highly recommend her work.

Service was excellent. I have no prior experience with facials, but I found the facility very nice. The spa is conveniently located downtown and tucked into the back of an old building, so very quiet.
This is the third time I have gone to Carmella. I have had the Deep Pore Cleaning once and the Microderm twice. All three times the service was great and the staff was super friendly. My skin looked great and continued to look revived in the days after. I would highly recommend.

They were very nice and talkative. I was a little nervous getting the Microdermabrasion Facial done because of horror stories I heard from other people at other places; however they were reassured me that everything would be fine and it was. They served me tea and the place was clean as well.

It was my first facial in a long time and I was very impressed. The salon though small, was very warm, relaxing, and had very nice treats for their clients. The cosmotologist was had very strong fingers and the message to my neck, shoulders, and even my head and face were wonderful. They didn't push purchase of products and even offered that if I have any out breaks to come in and them taken care of free of charge.
I am always in good hands at Caramella Skin Couture. Thankfully Goldstar makes it affordable!

Wonderful facial treatment- about an hour long. The highlight was the shoulder & neck rub while waiting for a mask to set. Atmosphere is calming and the staff is friendly and accommodating.

This was my first microdermabrasion facial, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Nai did a wonderful job of explaining every step of the process and insuring that I felt comfortable throughout the treatment. It was very relaxing and my skin feels incredible. I didn't find the product recommendations "pushy" as some people have described. I asked for a couple of particular recommendations and was given that, along with suggestions on how to use my new products with my existing regime. I will definitely go back again!

I really enjoyed the service (microdermabrasion facial). The ethetician was very knowledgeable about skin, skincare and the products the salon used, and reasons for using those specific product lines.
At the end of my facial, she recommended several products for me to use for my home skincare, and they are very appropriate and were not extraneous, frivolous products to buy/use.

I've gone to Caramella's spa for many treatments and every time I was impressed with the service and the results of the treaments received. I've had about 8 Micro-Derm treatments and 1 rejuvenating facial and really saw a difference.
I had great experience!!! Initially the spa looked small, and different in comparison to those in hotels, but I now prefer the intimate, low pressure setting. I got a deep pore facial and my skin is the best ever! Definitely the best facial I've ever had, and I would highly recomend :)

I almost fell asleep during my microdermabrasion facial...loved the tea and sweets afterward. The staff shared product recommendations, but I didn't feel any pressure to purchase.
I got a very good micro-dermabrasion treatment from Tanya. I would go back to Carmella, through Goldstar, it really is an outstanding deal. I should also note that when I had a scheduling conflict, Carmella accommodated an appointment change, although, I am not sure they are required to when you buy through Goldstar. That was much appreciated.

It was a very relaxing treatment from start to finish. Very easy to walk from BART. When I got there I was offered a drink and checked in. The staff is very knowledgable about the skin therapy. The room was comfortable and relaxing as well. My skin looked wonderful long after the facial, and I was not pressured to buy any products.
The woman at Caramella are always wonderful and professional. The office is peaceful and serene. I have always had microdermabrasion facials done and the extra facial massage and arm and neck massage that get done are like extra icing on the cake! I would highly recommend coming here and being good to yourself....

Caramella is such a great treat, and a nice find in the city. The outside building is on par with the gray steel of the rest of the Financial District, but stepping through the door is instantly soothing and calming.
All of the attendants were extremely professional and kind. The best part for me was the lack of the aggressive up-sale at the end of the treatment that is so common in spas, and generally ruins the experience.

It had been almost two years since I've been to Caramella. The first time was at its former location. I recall the experience mediocre. But this time, I was excited to check out its new location, even more conveniently located. The service and treatment was pretty good. They didn't push any products which is nice. The space was quite cozy and I'd go again. Maybe I'll book one with my boyfriend next time.

Having dealt with acne for 15 years (and I'm only 25), I've come to expect very little from any attempt to improve my complexion. My experience at Caramella, however, was not only relaxing and pampering - I actually felt like my esthetician Tatiana was invested in making a difference in my skin. Although I had signed up for microdermabrasian, she insisted on expanding the treatment that very day and took her time deciding the best course of treatment. She was kind, careful, and truly knowledgeable about what would help heal my existing acne and smooth my scars. I experienced no redness, no peeling and no discomfort at any point in during the facial. I already have follow up appointments booked and I cannot wait to continue treatment with Caramella!
I was delighted with every aspect of this treatment, beginning with the short walk from BART. The salon is lovely and aesthetic. I forget the name of my practitioner (Nai?) but she was very professional, skilled, and only mentioned one product, and briefly. I thought I needed a deep pore cleansing, which is what I signed up for, but quickly saw that the microdermabrasion would do much more for me, and that was clearly the right choice. She used a number of products on my face without a running commentary on what she was using, which I appreciated. The owner was there and was also helpful and welcoming. My second facial there. These ladies know skin. This is the best facial I've ever had!
I had a rocky start with my facial. Reception didn't answer the phone and I had to wait outside the building for several minutes. I was irritated.
Once I was inside the fabulousness began. I have never had a deep pore cleansing facial before, only moisturizing facials, so this was a new wonderful experience.
Clean, caring, calm, professional service. Scalp and shoulder massage, several relaxing and moisturizing treatments, and of course the wonderful squeezing.
I have been going to my derm for my acne for years. She will extract and use the light - but it's $75/extraction - which adds up.
I'm going to wait a few more days to see how everything settles, but I think I may have found a new way to deal with my acne - Caramella's deep pore facial!
They also apologized for the initial confusion and made up the time that I missed - which I really appreciate.
