We bailed out on the tour after another group of people did the same thing. It may be more interesting for tourists, but as a local I was looking for more details about specific buildings rather than stories about the earthquake and fire that were demonstrated with photos from a binder.

This was a walking tour of North Beach in S.F. There were 4 other couples and one tour guide...the tour was 2 hours and covered about 17 blocks of walking.

Relatively boring. Might be better attended in the early evening hours where one can get a bit of the flavor of Northbeach. We were the first to bail.

Originally called the Latin Quarter, North Beach (which actually did have a beach some 150 years ago) was a mix of all nationalities until the laying of an "off-the-grid" avenue (later rechristened Columbus Avenue) sent many citizens scattering to other neighborhoods. But not the Italians—they stayed and turned North Beach into Little Italy.
