Back in San Francisco for just one night after a 14-month run in New York City, this hilarious, highly personal solo show explores playwright-performer Ben Rimalower's journey of self-discovery. When his father came out of the closet and began taking drugs, Rimalower found comfort in musical theater, especially in the transportive voice and larger-than-life personality of Broadway legend Patti LuPone. With a mix of comic irreverence, stark candor and show-biz bravado, Patti Issues poignantly examines the challenges facing LGBT families while shining a light on gay men's fascination with divas. The show has garnered rave reviews from numerous luminaries of the theatre world, including Tony Kushner, Alan Cummings and Patti LuPone herself. Learn More

As far as we know, this show is a first of it's kind; straight, mostly funny comedians performing as gay comedians. Several were beyond convincing, very entertaining and well beyond what we would have expected from such an effort. Particularly noteworthy, was a convincingly queeny french guy sharing his thoughts about us provincial americans, a straight guy taking a rosetta stone course on how to be more gay and an "older" gay reflecting on how easy "younger" gays have it now. The event was well attended but not at overcapacity. Definitely would recommend.
