I was somewhat disappointed. For one of the masters of 20th century American visual art the play was not very visual. I understand the difficulties arising from not getting co-operation from the executors of Ms O'Keeffe's estate, but something could have been done to creatively focus on the artist's great visual style. As it was the theatre goer got an outline of Georgia O'Keeffe's relationship with Alfred Stieglitz, which was OK but not great.Written on Nov 06 2011

The actors were so believable, and Georgia was perfectly cast. I loved it. I especially was taken with the use of props,a simple door and a piece of white cloth, that conveyed delightfully what was going on. the theater was intimate and not a bad seat in the house. A special experience.Written on Oct 17 2011

Description
Hanging Georgia, written by Sharmon J. Hilfinger, tells the story of Georgia O'Keeffe's love relationship and marriage with the famous photographer and art dealer, Alfred Stieglitz. At the center of the American Modern Art movement, O'Keeffe and Stieglitz live a life of passion and drama in a Bloomsbury-like environment of artists and writers. O'Keeffe's rise to fame is astounding. How does a woman in the early 1900's command the highest prices on the American art market and maintain her artistic independence? For O’Keeffe it is a rags to riches story, for Stieglitz, it is Pygmalion.
