Dress in layers and take sun visor or hat. It's quite breezy on the open deck.

Great way to see and visit interesting areas of the city! I live in the Bay area but this sure beats driving and my visitors loved it too. I wish I could have used the 2nd day ticket!Written on Oct 15 2009

This tour via Goldstar will save you money. It's a good round trip of the important sites. TAKE A JACKET.... when it goes across the Golden Gate bridge it was very, very cold and that was in July!!! Gives you a great orientation on the city. Two days which is a bonus, so we did the tour on the first day then used the ticket like a normal bus on the second. The tour is not the most informative I have ever been on but it serves the purpose. One thing....it says you have to go to the main office in Fisherman's Wharf to start your tour, I'd question that. All the buses have the same ticket machines and I'm sure you can start the tour anywhere.Written on Aug 01 2010

Some friends & I visited San Fran the last week of July. The tour bus was exactly what we needed to become familiar with the city. We loved the option we had of hopping-on/hopping-off. For example we decided to walk the Golden Gate Bridge. We hopped off at the stop & walked across. Since the buses run every 20min & were able to take our time walking. Once we reached the end, the bus was there. Also, the pre-recorded tour guide wasn't overbearing. It provided enough info on the landmarks. Take a sweater because riding at the top makes for a cold ride.Written on Aug 01 2010
And last, the bus also drops you off at Fisherman's Wharf - a boardwalk with lots of restaurants & souvenir shops. A big plus :D

The buses are new so that is nice. The drivers aren't very friendly, one seemed to be impatient with traffice(kinda their job to drive in traffic) MAJOR dislike with the guide on one trip, she continually requested tips. There was a little information then another request for tips. We could not wait to get off that bus.Written on Oct 31 2011

About the Ticket Supplier: Open Top Sightseeing San Francisco
There wasn't anything new about double-decker buses running up and down the streets of London, but it was curious to see these buses running up and down the streets of Paris. Thanks to Mr. Abdallah El-Azm, a clever and fun way to view one of the most romantic cities in the world made its debut in the 1980's.
What made Les Cars Rouge even more wonderful was the fact that the roof was chopped off, thus allowing guests to really see Paris! Eventually Les Cars Rouge expanded to Rome, Italy and Les Cars Rouge was on its way. It was a novel way to sightsee in Paris, France and Rome, Italy on a big red double-decker bus with an open top.
At the same time a couple of Scandinavian entrepreneurs were starting up the very same concept in Washington DC - Open Top Sightseeing. The two companies started a dialog and in 2006 eventually merging together under the Les Cars Rouge umbrella.
As the popularity of the company grew so did Les Cars Rouge locations. In 2007 Les Cars Rouge launched Open Top Sightseeing in San Francisco, California and in July of 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Les Cars Rouge plans to open more locations in the future. So if you see a big red double-decker bus in your neighborhood it just might be Open Top Sightseeing.
