Buried Child: Sam Shepard's Pulitzer-Winning Family Drama

Full Price:
$20.00 - $45.00

$10.00 - $22.50

Set during the rural economic slowdown of the 1970s, playwright Sam Shepard's universally acclaimed Buried Child resonates as strongly today as it did when it launched Shepard's career in 1978. A Pulitzer winner for drama, Buried Child makes for a fierce, forceful and unforgettable portrayal of the realities of the American Dream. The realistic masterpiece mixes comedy and drama, keen commentary and deep emotion in a squalid farm home occupied by a clan filled with suppressed violence, apparent unhappiness and dark secrets. Kenneth Kelleher directs this San Jose Stage Company production. Learn More

This show was freaking awesome! Yes, the space is small. Really small. There weren't even enough seats for people who had tickets and so the crew had to add another row of folding chairs practically on the stage! Still, the cast pulled off a wonderful, entertaining show.

Love the story, the lyrics are clever and funny, and the cast is solid. They got this show down to the subtle details (watch the actors' movements in the funeral home scene). I am thinking about seeing this again!

Funny, bubbly show with great all around cast, made for an exceptional evening. I found myself laughing out loud a lot, along with the rest of the audience. Small venue made us feel very connected with the show. The production got mileage out of very minimal props, sets, costumes. A terrific "feel good" evening. SEE IT!

Thank you Marni at Goldstar for reccomending this Show! It was the best small theater group production I have ever attended. What made this show a standout, was the cast. All six were terific singers and all six were hysterically funny. This is a show for teenagers through seniors.
