Iraq 'n' Roll: Israeli Doc at SF Jewish Film Fest Series
Israeli rocker Dudu Tassa goes on a musical mission to restore his Iraqi grandfather's lost legacy as a famed musician-composer from the 1930s in director Gili Gaon's heartwarming 2011 documentary. Screening as part of a San Francisco Jewish Film Festival special series at the JCCSF, the film follows Tassa as he delves into the lives of Daud and his brother Saleh al-Kuwaity, who were famed as the fathers of modern Iraqi music but who fell into obscurity after immigrating to Israel in the '50s.
