7 Sins made me a devoted fan, so I was really excited about Whoop Click. And now I can't stop telling my friends and co-workers about it - Judd is HILARIOUS! He's a masterful storyteller, building drama and intrigue as he creates a multi-character cast, each one of the Mormon aunts distinctly ideocyncratic. Judd's talent too amazing, too huge for the Darkroom, and he needs a space large enough for his talent. Just a matter of time before he's on Broadway. Even knowing the story, I will go back, and I'll bring more friends. This will sell out.

I loved 7 SINS and I loved this new show, too. Funny, intimate, a little bit edgier in parts. I would love to see him in a bigger, fancier theater befitting the city's new leading man of solo performance but The Dark Room has its charms. Marilyn Pittman was hilarious and the woman who sang Edith Piaf songs at the beginning was terrific. This is the best entertainment bargain in the city. I will recommend it highly.

Based on the reviews of his show "7 Sins," I bought tickets for our 10th anniversary night out - and what a night!

With opening act, we were entranced by the stunning voice and presence of singer Brittany McGregor - who couldn't be out of her 20s, but has the chops and stage presence to breathe new life into Edith Piaf classics. It gave me goose bumps.

Then we were treated to our first James Judd experience: hilarious, irreverent, intelligent, charming ... and interactive (get ready to exercise your facial muscles).

The intimacy of The Dark Room makes this a special treat, as Judd's performance is like hanging out with your outrageously funny friend - quirky, campy, sharp and joyful. We both laughed til it hurt.

I agree with other reviewers: Go see Judd ASAP - he's headed for Broadway, HBO specials, stellar success.

      Brilliant!

First of all, "Whoop Click!" isn't yet quite as polished as "7 Sins," which I saw last year. But in sheer number of laughs per hour, I still have to rate it 4 stars. James Judd is so hilarious. From his gay wedding in SF City Hall to a 2-week stay at a Florida fat farm with his 4 Mormon aunts, Judd had me laughing from start to finish. If you loved "7 Sins," you probably bought tickets for "Whoop Click!" the second it was announced; if you don't know James Judd, this is your opportunity to discover one of the brightest comedic talents around.

Judd's a wonderful storyteller and I hardly stopped laughing throughout the show. Despite some very targeted but playful taps (not slaps)at family relationships, the nipped-tucked aged in crowd of Palm Springs, Russians in general, and nagging FAT, Judd kept a basic optimism that left me smiling even as the show ended.

The warmup act that stood in for Pittman was a talented Piafesque waif singer and her sadly untalented guitar accompaniment. I loved the singer but she needs to rethink how much her partner should get involved: no more cardiac surgery on "I Left My Heart in San Francisco."

I thoroughly enjoyed Whoop Click! James Judd is always hilarious. I love the silliness and his frankness in the retelling of all the funny situations that he was in. Although I personally love 7 sins (his previous show) more, I think his new show is wonderful and you definitely will not regret going to Whoop Click! Highly recommend this. Just go and laugh until you tear up.. =)

I always enjoy James Judd's shows. It's almost like having a friend tell you stories. The young lady who did the Edith Piaf songs was fabulous (*note to get her name).

Pure entertainment! James Judd is a master storyteller
whom I could listen to talk about peeling a banana.
For this Piaf aficionado, the opening act won me over
and the "Astronut" performance piece had memorable moments.
With drinks and dinner in the neighborhood beforehand, hard to
      beat the price...

Why isn't this guy performing at ACT?!
I'm a fan of 7 Sins and was dying to see what James Judd had in store for us. This guy totally delivers. I like the theater and the people working there were friendly and made you feel like you were welcome at a great party. James Judd's opening acts are a great juxtaposition to his play. First, a young woman named Brittany McGregor opened the show with songs of Edith Piaf. It was unexpected, yet very satisfying. She was pretty (a la Marion Cotillard) and had a great command of French and Edith Piaf singing style and manerism. Following the French chanteuse was Marilyn Pittman. She was very funny as usual. This gay comedian is dirty enough to make everyone laugh without offending anyone.

I hurt myself laughing at "7 Sins" and was excited to hear about "Whoop Click!" While this show is not as long or as polished as "7 Sins" James Judd does not disappoint with his ribald and manic personal stories. He's the life of the party and you get front row seats to his living room.

Perfect for dates or depression. Treats both.

This was a classic San Francisco fun night out at the theater. The girls that opened for James were on fire, and James was really exciting. The theater is a tiny little intimate space and it was perfect for the performers to feed off our energy. James' horribly unfortunate stories sure are entertaining!

My boyfriend and I became fans of James Judd after 7 Sins. In fact, we've been using his "I know, I know, I know, NOW I know" as a catch-phrase ever since.... Given how much we enjoyed that performance, I was worried that our expectations for "Whoop Click!" might have been too high. I am happy to report, however, that my concerns were unwarranted, and Judd did not disappoint! "Whoop Click!" is at once, fun, engaging, and relevant. I would highly recommend :-)

We loved the show. The opening act -- vocals and guitar of Edith Piaf's legendary French songs was AMAZING and rare. The stand-up was hilarious and great fun, not to mention the sampling of James Judd's wines. Worth going.

Here is another hilarious, cogent, astute solo show from James Judd. His observations and birds-eye jokes about life in Palm Springs, San Francisco, Florida and Utah is NOT TO BE MISSED!
Who can pass up a tale about a brown recluse spider bite that leads to going to fat camp with his four mormon aunts? Not me. I can't wait to see it again and again.

James Judd's "Whoop Click" is breathtakingly funny! He's hip, zany, bizare & sharp. The from nowhere French torch singer & dyke comediane warm up acts were a plus.
He really deserves to broaden his audience; he should be at the Marsh next followed by an even larger venue.

James Judd is a mile-a-minute, totally absorbing & entertaining. He is great fun, and really makes me laugh. After laughing my way through 7 Sins I was a total fan. Whoop Click! was just as fabulous. In addition to entertaining us non-stop through the entire show, he also managed to let us get to know him. I really enjoyed this part. He built great rapport with the audience. I really look forward to hearing about the segment of his life he is going to share in his next show, not just because I know I will be endlessly entertained, but because I actually care about his story! I highly recommend any show he puts on.

James Judd is a remarkably generous performer. I worried for his health at the end of the show I attended, as it must have been exhausting for him. This show is just slightly less hilarious then his prior show (7 Sins), but still in process, certainly. One criticism is that it was very disappointing to find out, as the show started, that Marilyn Pittman was not going to perform, as she was half the reason for my attendance. The Piaf singer, however, was fantastic, and James' show made me (almost) forgive the lack of notice about Ms. Pittman's absence.

      Opening musician--great.
Opening comedian who we heard previously with 7 Sins suffered from lack of material and felt she could compensate by using the F word 65 times.
James as usual was wonderful but the material suffered somewhat in comparison to 7 Sins.

    More Information

Whoop Click! is James Judd’s follow-up to his popular hit 7 Sins.  After gaining an ungainly amount of weight, James checks himself into a Florida “Wellness Retreat” that turns out to be a run-down fat camp.  Worse, he’s accompanied by the same four overly-opinionated Mormon aunts from Utah popularized in 7 Sins.  Family scandal, forced exercise, marriage politics, and a looming hurricane create chaos in his latest autobiographical comedy.  NPR host and comedian Marilyn Pittman opens the show.
