Freddy Cole Sings the Great American Songbook at the RRazz Room

Full Price:
$40.00
Our Price:
$20.00

Just in time for Valentine's Day, spend an evening with Lionel Frederick "Freddy" Cole, the youngest brother of Nat "King" Cole. There are certain unmistakable similarities between the brothers' voices and, just like Nat, Freddy plays piano and sings, yet his voice is raspier, smokier and perhaps even jazzier. Freddy Cole is a nonpareil vocal interpreter of the Great American Songbook and a superbly swinging pianist to boot. Head out to the RRazz Room with your sweetheart for a concert to remember. RAVE review from ME! Not only was La Musica FANTASTIC but we were privileged to the charming loquaciousness of the humble yet brilliant and funny Noel Jewkes as interviewed by the humble, yet brilliant and funny Mike Greensill! I, for one, hope this gets picked up as a live radio show! You'll entertain and educate the jazz-loving public! The "conversation" part of your jazz and conversation show is an absolutely terrific idea! It makes the event so much more interesting! Thanks for thinking of it and wishing you grand success!

The music was great, the interview with the guitarist was witty and fun, and Wesla was a special treat. The only minus was the overlong statements with the music producer/publisher.

Mike Greensill's Trio with special guest, guitarist and novelist Bruce Forman, and special "surprise" guest vocalist, Weslia Whitfield, kicked off our holiday week in the best possible way. A short interview with Bruce Forman and another (with the potential to go on and on) by Orrin Keepnews entertained us among several sets of jazz standards brilliantly executed by the trio and guests. Rrazz Room staff were excellent, from the accommodating maitre d' to Alexis, our server. We look forward to more of Mike's Trio with special guests at the Rrazz Room. And it's right near Powell St. BART!

More Information About Jazz at the Rrazz, with the Mike Greensill Trio

Description

Jazz at the Rrazz features the Mike Greensill Trio with special guest stars.

Says Greensill, "I’m always interested in the “back story” of people's lives and so, along with the thrill of making music with these wonderful musicians, I decided to sit down and have a conversation with them as well. A brief 15 minute enquiry into their influences, their musical upbringing plus any gossip that I can wring out of them! We’re going to plop this little tete a tete into the middle of a 1½ hour set of swinging mainstream jazz."

These shows will be recorded as pilots for a new radio series called “Music and Conversation” featuring your host Mike Greensill.

Upcoming lineups:

Monday, December 21, 2009 - Bruce Forman (guitar)
with Mike Greensill on piano + John Wiitala on bass + Vince Lateano on drums
