Ray of Light Theatre presents the West Coast premiere of Jerry Springer - The Opera. The Olivier Award-winner, inspired by the outrageous talk show, combines high art and low culture into profanity-laced musical theatre. This crudely delightful yet heartbreaking operatic farce will be performed by talented voices several dozen strong backed by a live band.

We enjoyed the show and the wonderful voices (some big talents up there onstage!) but I think the venue itself was working against the show. So many voices to try to hear but not the greatest sound system. It's a huge cast for such a small stage. Lighting and costuming were also excellent. It was just the preview so there's time to work out some tweaks that could send this over the top...as if much of it isn't already there.

Sorry guys but after the first act this was a bore. Jerry Springers guests are outrageus, OK, thats enough. Streeching this to a heaven and hell romp made no sence. I was tired of it all by the second act which got increasingly boring. It must have taken a tremendus amount of work to write this all but the result, for me, was dissapointing. Go if you like but dont expect too much.

I agree with the other positive posts.

We really enjoyed it. We thought the first act was the best. Slowed down somewhat in the next two acts.

Yes , it was hard to understand some of the lyrics which was annoying even though we were in the first row.

But it is truly a fun musical true to the show.

The guy playing Jerry was right on !!!
