The acoustics were less than desirable ( I am NOT hard of hearing), a consistent experience at Davies Symphony Hall events. The venue planners seem to think that performers don't need a microphone--well, they do, including the magnificent Ms....continued

Having missed Ms. Norman in her salad days I was interested in seeing her sing from the American songbook. I admit at first it seemed I might want to leave at the intermission as it seemed that time had taken its toll and conveying the necessary...continued

It was fun to see her. She has a lovely voice, and had so many fans there, that just loved her. But, she started really slow...... her first song was really a disappointment, and gradually her voice warmed up, and she did much better as the...continued

Fabulous! Jessye Norman is a phenomenon: Not only is she perhaps the best mezzo soprano of the 20th century, she's generous philanthropist and a wonderful person.

This was a fantastic concert. We purchased the tickets just a few days in advance and they were good in the orchestra. Thank you Goldstar

Jessye Norman is such a wonderful lady and such a talented professional. I was extremely disappointed with the acoustics in the Davies Hall for her performance. I could not hear much of the lyrics on the first set and until she picked up the...continued

A stunning performance. Even without a mic, you could hear the emotional nuance Ms. Norman's voice from the balcony, albeit faintly.

1. It was difficult to hear her during first half of the program but she made adjustments after intermission by using the hand held mic.
2. Seats were great.

from beginning to end ... 100% enjoyable. Ms. Norman is simply magic as she takes command of the recital from the moment she walked on stage to the very last note of Amazing Grace sing-a-long !

Easy to get tickets and concert was great! An interesting combination of American song book and other strong musical compositions by well known African American singers.

I am hard of hearing so I phoned ahead to be sure assisted listening devices were available. As I entered the bldg. one was issued to me. My seat was up two levels and at the far opposite end of the hall. Since I am mobility impaired this was a...continued
