Description
Jimmy Carter Was a Democrat takes us back in time to a crucial moment in recent U.S. history: the Professional Air Traffic Controllers (PATCO) strike, just before Ronald Reagan is elected president and fires all 11,345 air traffic controllers. Jimmy Carter Was a Democrat examines the recent past to illuminate the present.
In the year of a presidential eletction between a conservative "man of the people" and a soft-spoken liberal, with the country transfixed by troubles in the Middle East, the men and women of PATCO, the air traffic controllers union, struggle to maintain their sanity, and the safety of "souls on board" the planes they direct, as their union and personal lives descend into chaos.
Featuring Chris DeJong, Laura Hope, Patrick MacKellan, John Nahigian and Eleanor Scott; set design by Nancy Mancias, costumes byPrem Lathi, lighting design by Catherine Anderson, sound Design by Yvette Jackson and Barbara Jwanouskos.
