Smooth Soul at the Rrazz Room With the Dramatics
- Full Price:
- $50.00
- Our Price:
- $25.00
Enjoy some classic smooth soul and quiet storm R&B in the sophisticated and intimate setting of the Rrazz Room, one of San Francisco's premiere night clubs. In their early '70s heyday, the Dramatics were an anomaly: a Detroit singing group signed not to their famed hometown label, Motown, but to the legendary Southern soul label Stax/Volt. Their sound, as heard on hit singles like "Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get" and "In the Rain," straddles both worlds, combining the Temptations-like silky-smooth harmonies of Motown with the earthiness of Memphis-style soul. Still performing after more than 40 years, the group features veteran member L.J. Reynolds along with Willie Ford, Donald Albert and Winzell Kelly. Learn More

I like the intimacy of the Rrazz Room Venue, there isn't a bad seat in the house. Now if only there drink prices were as accommodating. Friendly staff, my waitress on the borderline of being too chatty. And of course Karel was as opinionated as ever, all in all good show.Written on Apr 01 2010

Karel performed, to a sold out house, at The Rrazz Room at Hotel Nikko. It was his first appearance since returning to the air in San Francisco, on Green 960-AM, KKGN.
Karel is at his best with a large audience and this night was no different. The show, at 2 hours in length, FLEW by!
If you haven’t seen this multi-talented man on-stage, get to one of his shows! He ALWAYS delivers!

- "Karel's very entertaining stand-up performance at the Hotel Nikko's Rrazz Room ... was a little like his radio show, except much more profane and even less politically correct than his often politically incorrect KGO talk show." --SF Examiner
Description
"Comedy for the New Depression" is v4.0 of Karel's uncensored, unfiltered and unhinged look at the news, pop culture and life. Karel again takes biting wit, splitting comedy, painful truths, hysterical life stories, mixes in a few parody songs and creates one of the most unique and relevant stage shows around.
Karel is the host of the syndicated The Karel Show heard in San Francisco on KKGN Green960, Santa Cruz/Monterey on KRXA 540 AM, KYNS San Luis Obispo and KJRB Spokane. He has had #1 talk shows at Citadel/ABC’s flagship station, KGO AM 810 San Francisco (#1 overall station) and for KFI AM 640 Los Angeles. Karel has enjoyed being an entertainment reporter and film critic for KNX 1070 Los Angeles (CBS), panelist on major cable news shows, columnist for HuffingtonPost.com and fill-in host for the likes of Bill Press on his national show, as well as a columnist for magazines such as Billboard and The Advocate. His first book of essays You Can’t Say That was published by Alyson Press and was called one of the most biting of its time. His second book came out in 2011.
But it's the Karel that's live and on stage that is an instant sensation for anyone that sees him. Unafraid and uninhibited Karel attacks the stage using current events as a springboard for comedy that has been compared to some of the greatest political and social satirists of all time. Don't miss it when Karel Stands Up near you.
