Named one of the top ten plays of 2009 by The Advocate, Daniel Talbott's Slipping is an emotional drama about Eli, a high-school senior, who moves with his mother from California to Iowa after his dad's death. But after being mistreated by his closeted ex in California, Eli struggles with the idea of starting a new relationship with the straight star athlete who's befriended him and now wants to get even closer. New Conservatory Theatre Center is known for its innovative productions centered on theatrical work for youth and the LGBT community, and continues that mission with this show, directed by Andrew Nance. What a bore of a show! Ten minutes into it I knew I was in for a complete stinkeroo of a show, and was waiting for the intermission and the first opportunity to leave. If you think that tired renditions of holiday standards in a broken falsetto is fun, then this is the show for you. It was so bad that it made the Coverlettes at the Aurora look like the Supremes.

Katya is the consummate performer! Amazing vocals, hysterically written script, delivered in the way only Katya can "interpret" the English language, high energy from start to finish! I loved every moment as did the full house. The show is complete with awesome accompaniment from Joe, two elves and presents! Do not miss this show!
