Kim Nalley has an ncredible presence and great room at the Rrazz. We will see her again.

Show was good. Minimum of two drinks is not quite a pleasant requirement.

Kim Nalley has a great voice, the pianist was great, and obviously a lot of thought went into the show. However, the arrangements all seemed about the same and Kim Nalley seemed to lack some energy. It was a bit too "supperclubby" for me.

Kim was absolutely spell binding and wonderful. What a voice!

Exceptional musicianship combined with Kim Nalley's superb voice made for an excellent night. She references Nina Simone's career and life in song, making all the right historical notes, framing the songs in their context and hits all the right notes. Well worth the detour!

My husband and I went on a rare date,we were blown away by the musicians and Kim Nalley hit it out of the park! What an experience,she has a wonderful voice,engages with the audience and puts her heart and soul into her singing.The intimate venue allowed us to really see and hear everything during the show.The table service was great,they did not
get in the way of our enjoyment of the show.The whole audience seemed to be having a great time.We will make a point of seeing Kim again- she is a rare talent and we felt it was a real treat to see her.
We arrived when the doors opened and got great seats and were treated very well.

Kim Nalley put a spell on everyone in the audience with her amazing tribute to Nina Simone. Run, don't walk to see this before the show closes. It's a thrilling night of personal history and music that will touch your soul.

Kim Nalley is a wonderful vocalist and the band was fantastic. An absolute tour de force and not to be missed.

Great show. Kim is a very personable person, she comes into the audience and meets and greets as a part of her performance. Really fabulous. The Hotel Nikko is a great venue for this type of performance.
Ms Nally sings well also she tells great stories and shares history re the piece she is singing.

LOVED this show. Kim put on a wonderful show and sang all of Nina's songs that we knew, and then some. She had the place rocking as this also was the night that the Rrazz Room put in a temporary dance floor and many people in the room used it. Not sure if that will continue as the permit was for only that night. But don't miss her! You won't regret it, but be sure to arrive early, and with ALL of your party, as they wouldn't seat us until our 3rd member arrived. We go there a lot, and this was the first time that we two were not allowed to be seated until the 3rd person arrived.

This was one of the best evenings I have had in a long time. Kim Nalley is fabulous- a real entertainer who knows how to work her audience. And her pianist, Tammy Hall is unbelievable. The Rrazz Room is an intimate setting, and I could have stayed there all evening. Don't miss it!

Kim Nalley is a treasure for all of us to enjoy!

This vocalist has an incredible range, and indeed does not need amplification. My disappoint with her and her material (which apparently changes every night, according to her statement) was way in which it was staged. An unfortunate decision to turn her cabaret performance, on Wednesday July 6th, into a dance venue event was a disaster (for all but the dancers). Fully 1/2 to 1/3 of the patrons could not view her show at all because of at least 50-60 dancers that completely clogged the tiny dance floor, blocking vision and enjoyment of the performance. I am an excellent dancer, but this is not a dance venue, and should not be used as one. If I could ask for my money back or receive tickets for another show I would. Major disappointment. And I brought someone for his birthday, and was totally embarrassed after giving the Razz Room and this singer kudos. ~A manger management snafu. NO PRIOR NOTICE was given that this was a dancer-participation event or I would not have gone. This is not a dance venue. I will never attend another event here, without asking in advance whether or not the dancers will be blocking the patrons views as they did last night. All other reviews I have written have been positive. Sorry I can not do the same this time.

The energy was so positive. The dancers were fun to watch and a different twist. Would have liked a few more ballads and some more tunes without dancers.

This woman can sing like no other. Warm, charming, soulful, she conveys the essence of the artists she portrays and one gets a vital history lesson as well. Great musicians back her up for an extraordinary evening-DON'T MISS HER!!

Kim put on an amazing show. I brought friends who hadn't seen her before. They we knocked out!

Kim Nalley has a great voice and the band was fabulous. My husband and I found we couldn't relate much to Nina Simone's music (I selected this event on a whim, not knowing anything about her), but the evening was enjoyable nonetheless. Good venue (except for the snotty maitre d'); intimate and not a bad seat in the house.

AmCingU....5 stars for sure. She was fabulous. An entertaining, educational and moving performance. Great musicians in the band. Would see her again and again if I could. Great seats and venue.

At times her performance pops and fills the room with soul and passion. Other times it feels like a hotel lounge act.

WOW!!!!!!!! & Tammy Hall on piano, WOW!!!!!!!!!

This was our first time visiting the Rrazz Room and I was very impressed by the facility: there doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the house! And, on this occasion, our "Maitre D' seating" got us close in front and center. I noticed that the center tables are all two-tops, so I expect side seating if we visit with a party of 3 or more.
The show itself was solidly good: great band, super-great pianist with the most intense facial expressions, and (lastly) the main singer who got stronger as the night wore on but never really belted out a song with much power. Sometimes, in fact, Kim was actually hard to hear!
The food choices aren't very healthy and you need to order promptly after arriving to have a leisurely time imbibing your two-drink minimum.
But you end up learning about Nina Simone and having a good night on the town!

Kim and the entire band put on a captivating evening of music, moving gracefully from gospel to blues to pop and on through other genres as they helped the audience to appreciate and remember the wonderful spirit of Nina Simone and her gifts of song.

Wonderful classy intimate venue. Superb service. High prices of course. Appreciated a bit of Nina Simone's back story. Loved when Ms. Nalley captured some of the power of Nina's music but that was only about 1/3 of the time.

As always I was not disappointed one little bit with Kim's show. Her range, interpretation, knowledge and voice are all simply perfect....not to mention her connection with the audience. Her affection for the music she sings is evident and her generosity towards

Kim Nalley was just as amazing as I remembered her from Jazz at Pearls. The venue was intimate and there really isn't a bad seat. You are able to see Kim and her band up close and personal. We had a wonderful time. I highly recommend her.

Kim Nalley is a first-rate entertainer. This is the second time I've seen her. and I wasn't disappointed. Not only she has great voice and great band, but she'll also talk about history and biography of the singer she gives tribute to. Oh. and did I mention how playful and funny she is? I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

How I would experience this show. A standing ovation by many !
Venue & seating great deal, intimate space, good acoustics,
good food. If you like Nina, it's a must see event!

A very poor representation of Nina Simone and her body of work. Nalley simply does not have the voice or stage presence to carry it off. She was rude to the audience and began by sharing inappropriate personal information (that she had just undergone a D&C). If you are a fan of Nina Simone, or good lounge singers, don't waste your time or money on this show.

Kim Nalley is such a brilliant performer. Anyone out there who likes rhythm and blues, jazz, soul: please don't miss out on an evening with this beautiful and talented lady You'll never forget it!

Kim & her band are stupendous!

Our group of three were visiting the room for the second time and we had a wonderful time. The venue, food but most of all Kim were all terrific. We'll be back soon.

A delightful showcase for Kim Nalley's talent, and also for her band members, especially the piano player, Tammy. I really liked the Nina Simone biographical tidbits that were part of Ms. Nalley's presentation (I would have been fine with more, too). A big highlight was "Summertime" without a microphone. See this show!

Incredible performance. Saw her many years ago at Pearl's, but yesterday's performance was even better. Especially enjoyed the way she integrated stunning civil rights photos with her Mississippi God Damn. Glad she'll be performing for 4 weeks. Every night should be a sold out!

I had never heard Kim Nalley before and she was amazing! And to hear her in The Razz Room in such a small, intimate atmosphere was fantastic. Before some of the songs she recounted the historical context of Nina Simone's career, which was very interesting. I highly recommend this show!

Kim Nalley just gets better and better. She has a stage presence and such heartfelt love and understanding of the material and its history that you cannot not be moved. Her material changes from week to week so I'd even suggest seeing the show more than once!

Kim Nalley's voice always puts a smile on my face and often times chills as well. You can tell that Kim is truly passionate about this music - the history and the sound. Her stories between songs painted a picture for the audience about Nina, her life, and the struggles Nina and the black community faced. It was an inspirational evening and I would recommend it to everyone who appreciates jazz, history, and a beautiful voice accompanied by talented musicians.

Great venue, great performer! Kim has an outstanding voice and this dedication to a singer and civil rights activist was moving and entertaining. Had never been to the Rrazz Room but will go again!

This was the third time I've had the pleasure of hearing Kim Nally and she is truly one of our San Francisco treasures..!! An amazing talent that makes every performance the best ;-) Her interpretation of Nina Simone, moving and memorable. And, don't forget the superb and beautiful Tammy Hall on the piano....leading another world class trio and ensemble. World class performance....we love you, Kim....!!

The first 10 minutes or so were a little slow, but Kim soon hit her stride and the remainder of the program was fantastic! Hearing a little history on Nina Simone was good, too. I didn't recall that she was from Tryon, No. Carolina. Highly recommended.

The combination of Nina Simone's music and Kim Nalley (and band)'s electrifying performance was a wonderful, wonderful, eat-it-up treat. I will be going back and seeing this again, although I have never done that before in my life before.

She's an amazing Bay Area treasure.

Kim Nalley is lovely and personable and the Rrazz room is stellar. The audience was very enthusiastic. I didn't know much about Nina Simone before this show so my personal enjoyment was not as great as it could have been. I'd rather hear a singer who was singing love songs, classics - or rousting jazz songs like When the Saints Go Marching In - rather than singing and talking about the civil rights movement. Also, for this event, the Rrazz Room was very cold - over-airconditioned.

Wonderful singer and great band in a pleasant intimate venue with good cocktails.

Kim is an amazing, gifted singer. I was at one of her Billie Holiday concerts and she rocked. Friday's Nina Simon tribute was just as great. Can't wait to see her again. And the Razz Room is a great venue. Small, initimate and whether in the front row or in the back, there are no bad seats.

Outstanding! Such a unique and original homage to Nina Simone. Kim totally adds her own flair. It's definitely worth purchasing her CD too!

Good musicians and performers but overall a disappointing act.

I learned a good deal about Nina Simone last night and enjoyed every morsel. Ms. Nalley's song selections were both clever and fitting, at times daring. There were some great moments of accompaniment as well--on guitar and by Tammi Hall on piano and vocal duets. Best of all, we were treated to a full 2-hr set. I will return for another taste of Nina in the coming weeks.

Absolutely exceptional. An astounding tribute performance covering Nina Simone's music, her vanguard life moments and the political/social realities of the times. An intelligent and musically savory performance. I highly recommend this event and I hope to return later in the month.
