Not a problem on week-days. Go all the way to the light-house; you should be ok.

Kirk is an amazing font of information on all things coastal. It was fascinating learning about the various (edible!) creatures that live right along our shoreline. Not sure how many of the techniques I'll put into practice myself, but I might troll for the occasional crab and certainly want to pry a few limpets off the rocks. Good eats.

Kirk knows his stuff: he caught dungeness crabs (and threw them back), showed us mussel beds, told us the laws, and generally made this an entertaining experience. I'm not sure I will ever actually try any of these activities, but he certainly made me want to. I recommend the event.

Wow! This may be one of the most informative and enjoyable tours I have ever been on. A great blend of relevant information and hands-on action. The tour has info you can use right away. Kirk is a overflowing receptacle of current info and entertaining opinion. It was a pleasure. I will certainly sign up for his other tours.

Description

Get fishy with former Department of Fish and Game fisheries observer, raconteur, tubist, monkeyface eel record holder, commercial fisherman, blogger and street performer Kirk Lombard on an inter-tidal, low tide fishing trip along San Francisco's bayfront shoreline. Learn the basics of how to "poke pole" for the flavorful monkeyface eel, how to catch rock crabs and throw a "Hawaiian casting net." Discover the best local mussel beds, and how to be sure you aren't eating risky ones! Also: where to find stands of edible sea weeds, the advantages of eating local forage fishes and what's in season when.
