“Best Walking Tour – 2011” —SF Weekly
Check out the "about">cover story":http://www.sfweekly.com/2011-04-20/news/kurt-lombard-coastal-foraging-sustainable-seafood-night-smelt-urban-fishing-peter-jamison/ on Kirk Lombard in SF Weekly.

Description

Get fishy with former Department of Fish and Game fisheries observer, raconteur, tubist, monkeyface eel record holder, commercial fisherman, blogger and street performer Kirk Lombard on an inter-tidal, low tide fishing trip along San Francisco’s bayfront shoreline. Learn the basics of how to “poke pole” for the flavorful monkeyface eel, how to catch rock crabs and throw a “Hawaiian casting net.” Discover the best local mussel beds, and how to be sure you aren’t eating risky ones! Also: where to find stands of edible sea weeds, the advantages of eating local forage fishes and what’s in season when. Really, anything you want to discuss about local marine resources is on the table!

This tour is for those ages 9 and older, and typically runs between 2 and 2.5 hours. No dogs are allowed. The tour will take place rain or shine. Dressing in layers and comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
