Edo de Waart Conducts Saint-Saëns at Davies Symphony Hall
- Full Price:
- $44.00 - $85.00
- Our Price:
- $22.00 - $42.50
Former music director Edo de Waart returns to perform with the San Francisco Symphony for the first time since 1997. The evening begins with an introduction to the music of Franz Schreker, an Austrian opera composer whose music combines the stylistic traits of several artistic movements and whose immersive scores are cinematic in their ability to draw the listener into the story. This innovative and once-obscure composer has seen a revival in popularity in recent years. The program also includes Rachmaninoff's sophisticated and modern Fourth Piano Concerto and the thundering Organ Symphony of Camille Saint-Saëns, his last and most dramatic symphonic work. Learn More

What a special treat! This was a truly worthwhile event to be offered at a discount. My only feedback is that it started 40 mins later and also many of the ochestra seats were empty...maybe assign more seats for members like us...Written on May 26 2009

Absolutely fantastic show. Only drawback was the willcall fiasco - the line was 45 minutes long! Without question, ticket buyers should have been given the option to purchase tickets at home (even for an additional charge). From what the staff at Davies told me, all events booked by the promoter of this show have incredibly long will call lines.Written on May 26 2009

A unique event made possible by the vision of Narada Michael Walden and the generosity of the artists who accepted to be a part of it. despite the few rare moments when the show almost fell in the boring session and the marginal performance of a couple of artists, the show was just grand and carried the energy that should relate to special concerts such as this one.Written on May 26 2009
