An extremely satisfying evening for so many different reasons: experiencing Hagegard's teaching techniques (and just seeing him in person again after all these years), watching young singers of different levels and abilities respond (or not) to what he had to tell them, enjoying the beautiful music and so on. But the most moving experience was listening to Adam Lau sing "An Die Musik" first on his own and then after some intelligent prodding from Hagegard, to hear him, and then on such short notice sing again it from the top at a level of beauty and profundity that surprised us all, including himself. Lau is a quick learner, and possesses great talent and emotional depth and presence on stage. An uplifting evening!
