Written on Mar 08 2012The musical was a lot of fun and our seats were perfect. I was impressed with most of the performers, but there were a couple leads who were a bit weak. All in all, a fun way to spend a few hours and the music was great. 1st half is definitely better than the second.
Written on Mar 05 2012The Performance of Mamma Mia was witty and delightful. I took my daughter (who is 6 yrs old) and having a great fondness for ABBA music, she was in heaven.
I however did not give a five star rating, because I do have one complaint that I'd like to share...The introductory music and the finale are uncomfortably loud. When the introductory music started, my daughter and I needed to plug our ears and as I looked around I saw many people needing to do the same thing. IT IS NOT NECESSARY to have the sound up that much, especially since the Orpheum isn't a big theater. If the whole performance would have been that loud, we would have had to leave. Thankfully, the volume did go down, but it was cranked back up so much so during the finale that we along with our whole group needed to start heading for the door.
Written on Mar 04 2012Don't bother. Acting and singing were a high school music caliber, with the sole exception of the character playing Tanya. Save your money and buy the DVD with Oscar winning actress Meryl Streep.
