Noe Valley Chamber Music gets its 20th anniversary season off to a celebratory start with a four-pack of powerful female performers. Mezzo soprano Catherine Cook is set to headline, with Jennifer Culp on cello, Elisabeth Lowry on flute and pianist Kristin Pankonin performing Maurice Ravel's Chansons madécasses
, a song cycle composed in the mid-'20s. They'll also take on contemporary composer Jake Heggie's The Deepest Desire,
which features poetry by Sister Helen Prejean, as well as other works.

Take a musical trip through history with the San Francisco Lyric Chorus, as this talented mixed-voice ensemble spotlights the great choral music written by American composers from colonial to contemporary times. The first half of the concert features songs and choral works from the Revolutionary War period through the temperance movement of the late 19th century. Then it's on to the recent past and present with moving pieces by Stephen Paulus, Daniel Gawthrop and Eric Whitacre. Now approaching its 20th anniversary, the chorus is is conducted by music director Robert Gurney, with piano accompaniment by Jerome Lenk. Learn More
