For PianoFight Production's inventive new work, three one-act plays were commissioned from three different playwrights, all set in a Surf-'n'-Turf restaurant. Then three directors and three separate casts collaboratively combined them into one world-premiere full-length play. The resulting show tells the story of a waiter at his wits' end, dealing with an unusual combination of customers on a night when the restaurant awaits a visit from an oft-disguised food critic.

Directed by Michael Mayer, the Tony Award-winning director of Spring Awakening, American Idiot features the smash hits "Boulevard of Broken Dreams," "Holiday" and "21 Guns." A two time Tony Award-winner and nominee for Best Musical, American Idiot played for more than 400 performances on Broadway, where The New York Times called it "thrilling and emotionally charged, as moving as anything on Broadway!" This show is hilarious! I had a great time. The cast is comprised of talented artists playing an amusing ensemble of characters. I especially enjoyed Chimp Lisa. The music incorporated throughout the performance made it even more fun.

I liked the main actor and the two derivate traders, but I didn't see the point of the other characters, such as the monkey and burglar couple, or the spy vs. spy characters that mostly just swore and were hostile. Unfortunately, other than the main character and the derivative traders this mostly consisted of angry, hostile, aggressive people that weren't saying anything funny. Go see Pianofort's sketch comedy if you want to see something funny, especially the mostly female Monday nite Foreplay shows.

Description

PianoFight’s focus on new work and unique formats hits a new heights when three writers, three directors, and three casts are tasked to combine three separate one-acts into one world-premiere full-length play, Ménage-À-Plot: A Surf-'N'-Turf Adventure.

At the repeated and truculent request of his boss, a waiter at his wits’ end in an ailing surf 'n’ turf restaurant decides to “go with the flow” on an evening where the restaurant is to be visited by the icy and often disguised food critic Mieville. A peculiar array of patrons mixed with the waiter’s newfound nonchalance towards his job make the prospect of a prized Four Golden Boogie Board review an unlikely feat. With the fate of the restaurant and its dubious combination of customers hanging in the balance, this world-premiere full-length collaboration adeptly lives up to its title, Ménage-À-Plot: A Surf-'N'-Turf Adventure.

PianoFight tasked three local playwrights, Kelly Anneken, Megan Cohen and Evan Winchester, each with writing a one-act play set in a Surf-'N'-Turf restaurant. PianoFight then assigned each piece a director, Jessica Holt, Alex Curtis and Addie Ulrey, and separate casts, all charged with working the three separate pieces into one full-length play, Ménage-À-Plot: A Surf-'N'-Turf Adventure. The seasoned cast of local actors includes Cooper Carlson, Ashley Cowan, Nick Dickson, Rachel Ferensowicz, Wylie Herman, Ray Hobbs, Jared Horney, Catherine Lardas, Charles Lewis, Jennifer Lucas, Leigh Shaw and Andy Strong. Rob Ready and Dan Williams round out the team as producers.
