Brace yourselves, people – ForePlays has returns after a two-month hiatus to answer some of your most urgent and burning questions. For example, ever wondered what would happen if the popular 5-Hour Energy product was re-imagined in a more adaptable 72-Hour form? Or how the story of a 17th century humorist’s poem about restoring hymens (“maiden-heads”) can be told in a modern-day original musical? And what is “dick bloat?” “Spring EGGStravaganza” also tackles the age-old “chicken and the egg” dilemma – come first to learn which “came first!”
Since debuting in November 2009, ForePlays has premiered more than 50 performances, serving up a (farm) fresh female perspective to the SF comedy scene. ForePlays has recently showcased special performances at SF ImprovFest and SF SketchFest at the Eureka Theater, the WomenROCK Festival at The Independent, Marga Gomez’s Comedy Brains at The Marsh and A Funny Night for Comedy at Actors Theatre of San Francisco. ForePlays is committed to creating smart and original comedy while providing a consistent platform for talented female writers, actors, musicians and stand-up comedians in and near San Francisco.
About the Ticket Supplier: PianoFight Productions
PIANOFIGHT was formed by Rob Ready, Dan Williams and Kevin Fink in 2007. After completing a $1.2 million fundraising campaign, 10% of which was crowd-funded through the largest Theater Kickstarter for a New Live Performance Venue ever, PianoFight has completed its home at 144 Taylor Street in San Francisco. The venue contains three rehearsal spaces, two black box theaters (42-seater and a 92-seater), and a full restaurant and bar with a cabaret stage. Since its inception, PianoFight has successfully managed venues (Off-Market Theater Complex); created the largest audience-judged playwriting competition in the country (ShortLived); instigated a fully-scripted, choose-your-own-adventure play series (FORKING!); recklessly invited audiences to Throw Rotten Veggies at the Actors Nights; formed two critically acclaimed sketch comedy groups (Mission CTRL and Chardonnay); toured the coast of California (Endless Weekend Tour I & II); created a surf rock band (Das Haus Band) and a soul band (PianoFight Music Department); launched a film department that retains corporate and artistic clients; and built a three-man producing team into a 48-member company of artists while staying true to its mission of producing New Work by New Artists ™. We’ve also consumed vast oceans of beer and have had one hell of a time in the process. PianoFight is committed to making 144 Taylor St. San Francisco’s next landmark entertainment venue. PianoFight was voted the Best Theater Company in San Francisco in SF Weekly‘s 2009 Readers’ Poll, and the Best Up-And-Coming Theater Company in the City by SF Weekly in 2011. In 2012, PianoFight won the SF Bay Guardian’s Goldie Award for Theater.
