After the Fall: Rarely Produced Classic by Arthur Miller from HumanArts Theater Company

Based on the playwright's life and considered one of Arthur Miller's most personal plays, After The Fall follows a man on his quest to make peace with his own history and with the tumultuous world around him. This experimental portrait of a man struggling with the choices he has made in his public and private life examines the personal, political and universal forces that collide when we "fall" from innocence. Following the death of his second wife, Quentin tries to move forward, but he must also relive childhood losses, failed marriages and the effects of the 1950s' Blacklist. This rarely produced classic is presented by the HumanArts Theater Company. Learn More

A treat of a show. Local acting doesn't get better than this. An all around terrific cast, excellent play that mixes it up between belly laughs and dark shadows. And all the time you know this play and its wild and mundane imaginings is also about YOU.Written on May 29 2009

Absolutely loved it! Did not know quite what to expect, and was delighted! The acting was superb and I would recommend it to friends and would go again!Written on Jun 12 2009
Parking is free after 6pm on Mission St. The venue is pretty relaxed and intimate, and we didn't get out tickets until 7:30. AND, you can bring your coffee in with you! :)

If you have the chance go to see this before it closes. Once again I wish there was a 3.5 star option... I don't want to just give away those 4s. The writing was clever and funny, and the acting was terrific.Written on Jun 07 2009

What a concept! Quite well acted especially the lead. Set was also great! A bit of a stretch that this is in a 4 year old's head, seemed more like at least six.Written on May 18 2009

Description

A hysterical dark comedy by Noah Haidle
Directed by Daunielle Rasmussen
Starring Lillian Askew, Daniel Duque-Estrada, Gabriel Grilli, Roselyn Hallet, Juliet Heller, Arthur Keng, and Benjamin Pither

Lucy is a 4 year-old girl with a very active imagination. Her mom doesn't have much time for her, and her babysitter is negelectful. What's a little girl to do?

Luckily, Lucy has her her imaginary friend, Mr. Marmalade, who loves to come for tea parties and to play house. Unfortunatley, he also drinks, has a cocaine addiction and a collection of pornography and dildos. Not to mention he beats up his personal assistant. On top of that, her only real friend, Larry, is a five year-old who happens to be the youngest suicide attempt in New Jersey.

Mr. Marmalade is a savage black comedy about what it takes to grow up in these difficult times.
